Ready or Not Fans Have Already Made a Mod to Revert Censorship

Just hours after Ready or Not’s Los Suenos Stories update censored the game’s PC edition, a new mod emerged to revert most of the controversial changes. VOID Interactive had already informed fans about the need for some adjustments and minor censorship ahead of Ready or Not’s console launch, but many have been pushing back against the decision ever since.

Ready or Not’s July update, titled Los Suenos Stories, brings a slew of fixes and new features. Most notably, it adds two new missions, four weapons, a new difficulty system, and improved AI. However, the update, which went live just hours before this writing, also introduced the anticipated censorship. It reduced nudity, removed several references to child abuse, and disabled dismemberment of dead bodies, among other similar changes.

Now, there appears to be a quick fix for Ready or Not’s censorship in the form of a mod. Published by Nexus Mods user eman734, ‘Uncensored or Not’ is a new modification that restores nudity, corpse dismemberment, and the original references to child abuse and human trafficking. The modder noted that the downloadable content is still a work in progress and may cause some issues for users. However, they’ve also assured fans that it will be updated to restore any additional cut content if needed.

Players looking to download the mod might need to adjust their account preferences on Nexus Mods because the content includes nudity and gore and it’s classified as adult-oriented. To access it, fans must go to the “Site Preferences” menu, click on “Content Blocking,” and enable “Show Adult Content.” Only then will the Uncensored or Not mod appear.

Ready or Not’s previous statements explained that censorship is necessary to keep both PC and console editions of the game aligned. Fans, however, believe the developer should’ve made it optional for PC players, allowing them to retain the original gore and realism. They argue that, much like the Uncensored or Not mod, the game could include a realism-oriented mode on PC. If players chose to use it, the game could automatically disable crossplay for them, fans suggested.

Regardless, it appears that the developer is content with the minor censorship introduced alongside Ready or Not’s console edition launch, and it seems unlikely that VOID Interactive will reverse its decision. Fortunately for the PC community, dedicated modders are working to preserve the game’s original boldness and authenticity.
