Minecraft Players Have New Features They Can Test Right Now

Minecraft has added a couple of new features to the game that players can check out in Bedrock preview and beta immediately. The new Minecraft features may be helpful to players who want to organize better, decorate more creatively, or design new redstone contraptions.

Mojang’s game is always growing and evolving, and part of that is made possible by the preview and beta builds of Minecraft. Players are always encouraged to give new features and tweaks a try, and Mojang takes player feedback and experiences into consideration when putting the final touches on a new feature. These new additions are just the latest examples.

Minecraft Bedrock preview and beta players now have access to two features: the Copper Golem Statue and the Shelf Block. Copper Golems are fairly new to Minecraft on their own, but it seems the game isn’t done with them yet. The Shelf Block, on the other hand, is as new method of displaying items, and is designed to let players readily swap what’s displayed with items in their hotbars.

Copper Golem Statues and Shelf Blocks

Under normal circumstances, a Copper Golem works by taking items placed in its matching Copper Chest and then transporting them to create neat stacks in other storage located nearby. Now, Copper Golems will eventually become statues and stop moving entirely. Players will be able to track this, as it’s based on the oxidization of the Copper Golems, which changes their patina as time progresses. Once a Copper Golem’s oxidization is at its max, they’ll drop anything they were holding, strike a pose, and stop moving. These poses send distinct signals through redstone comparators, so players can utilize the poses to make new contraptions. However, players who want their Copper Golems to remain active and useful can instead wax them to prevent the patina from progressing too far.

Shelf Blocks are designed to be an alternative to storing items in chests that players need on a frequent basis. The block visibly displays the items stored in them, so players don’t have to dig around through multiple chests trying to find what they need. They can also be connected to redstone, which turns them into powered shelves. Powered shelves inherently let players swap out three items instead of just one, but they can also be combined, creating longer shelves and swapping out more items the longer they become. In theory, a player could set up powered Shelf Blocks to rapidly switch loadouts depending on what they want to do next.

At the moment, these features aren’t available in Minecraft Java, but the devs have assured fans that they will be added in the future. Players are encouraged to share any feedback or bugs they experience with the new features with developers.
