From Megachad, whose use of Aura was featured in Megabonk trailers, to the obvious Dracula insert character Vlad, who wields Blood Magic, every character in the game has something unique to bring to the table. One of the most fun characters to play is Calcium, a skateboarding skeleton who can reach supersonic speeds.

Bone (Default)
Bone Effect: Throws bones that bounce off enemies
The Bone automatically hones in on enemies and ricochets to hit other nearby enemies (with no reduced damage) a certain number of times based on its level. It’s a bit like the Revolver, but with less Projectile Speed and Crit Chance and higher base Damage and Bounces.
Try to upgrade this as you search for the other three best Calcium weapons in Megabonk – especially if an upgrade increases its Projectile Count.
Bananarang
Bananarang Effect: Throws bananas that return to the owner
The Bananarang is useful for Calcium because the weapon pairs surprisingly well with his fast Movement Speed. Though the Bananarang starts with a slow Projectile Speed, each projectile returns to Calcium after reaching its apex – even across vast distances.
Avoid taking damage to increase Movement Speed, then race past enemies as you fire Bananarangs out, zoom further ahead, then watch as each projectile hits every enemy behind you on its return arc.
Lightning Staff
Lightning Staff Effect: Summons lightning to smite nearby enemies
Because Calcium turns into such a fast character, you don’t have to worry about only choosing weapons that attack enemies within the immediate vicinity. The Lightning Staff deals damage in an area to a random enemy “nearby”, but it has a deceptively long range.
Go as fast as you can to max the Lightning Staff’s damage, and get some Projectile Count upgrades, to see it zap away vast swathes of enemies and clear room for Calcium to more easily navigate.
Aegis
Aegis Effect: Blocks incoming attacks and sends out shockwaves
A very useful “weapon” for just about every character in Megabonk, the Aegis essentially provides a certain number of Shields that prevent damage upon hit. These Shields recharge over time, which occurs more rapidly if you increase Attack Speed.
As Calcium starts to reach supersonic speed levels, you will more than likely skate into a crowd of enemies by accident and risk getting hit before you’re able to jump away. Pick up Aegis to retain your Movement Speed through these hits and get more time to get out of tricky situations.
Best Calcium Tomes in Megabonk
XP Tome/Cursed Tome/Luck Tome
XP Tome Effect: Increases how much XP you gain from every source
Cursed Tome: Increases Difficulty, increasing enemy spawns and stats
Luck Tome: Increases the Luck stat, improving your chance to get good items or upgrades
There are three Tomes in Megabonk that are far and away the most important Tomes to acquire and upgrade for just about every build: XP Tome, Cursed Tome, and Luck Tome. The XP tome boosts the value of XP shards, the Cursed Tome increases the number of enemies that spawn (thereby increasing the number of XP shards that can spawn), and Luck increases your chance to get higher-quality rewards.
Get these as early as you can to take advantage of their borderline broken scaling. For example, if you can get XP Tome early and upgrade it to around 50% in the first half of Tier 1, you’ll likely reach level 35 or 40 before you have to face the first stage boss.
Damage Tome
Damage Tome Effect: Increases all outgoing Damage by a certain percentage
The Damage Tome offers a straightforward Damage bonus that applies to all of your outgoing sources of Damage. Because you should be able to survive reliably enough with high Movement Speed, pick up a Damage Tome instead of other survivability-oriented Tomes to boost your Bone, Bananarang, and Lightning Staff damage.
Agility Tome
Agility Tome Effect: Increases Movement Speed by a certain percentage
Calcium’s passive ability boosts his outgoing Damage based on his Movement Speed, which also increases over time as you avoid taking damage. Because his Damage scales from his Movement Speed, increasing this stat with the Agility Tome translates directly to more offensive power. Just be careful not to accidentally fly into a crowd of enemies.
Quantity Tome
Quantity Tome Effect: Increases how many Projectiles weapons fire
The Quantity Tome is broadly useful in the Megabonk early game because it quickly increases the number of projectiles you can send out. But when you get some weapon upgrades, you will also naturally increase their Projectile count. The real reason this is so useful for Calcium is because it also increase the number of Shield projectiles generated by Aegis.
If you don’t find a Damage or Agility Tome, the Quantity Tome is a reliable alternative to fill your fourth Tome slow (after XP, Cursed, and Luck).

The best items for Calcium increase his Movement Speed and maneuverability, which comes in handy as he becomes uncontrollably fast (if left undamaged long enough).
