Borderlands 4 Releases Patch Notes for October 30 Update

Gearbox Software released a new update for Borderlands 4, making a few tweaks and fixes to some nagging issues remaining in the game. The dust continues to settle on Borderlands 4 following the second round of adjustments and balancing, as players figure out which vault hunter builds and skills are optimal.

Leading up to the big update, Gearbox made sure to let fans know that the popular Crit Knife build would be getting nerfed. Even as the Borderlands 4 dev team poked fun at the Crit Knife nerf, many players seemed to agree that the adjustments in general weren’t as bad as some initially feared. While the build doesn’t output the same levels of damage, it’s still a very viable option. For now, the next update has been released, though it lkely won’t impact the game in such a large way.

Compared to the previous Borderlands 4 balance update, the October 30 patch is fairly small in size, opting to adjust a few nagging issues inside the game. Gearbox even made a couple of quality of life changes as well, adding the Gravitar Class Mod known as Reactor to the loot pool for the Primordial Guardian Inceptus. In addition, players can reset their Repkit, Ordinance, or Action Skills by interacting with vending or lost loot machines.

For many players, one of the biggest fixes in this update impacts the legendary Skully grenade. Added alongside the Horrors of Kairos Halloween event in Borderlands 4, players have seemingly been underwhelmed with the legendary grenade due to its lackluster damage. In this update, Skully has been adjusted to help increase the damage output of its projectiles before hitting its target.

Alongside the new update, players can also get their hands on some fresh SHiFT Codes for three Golden Keys in Borderlands 4. Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford hasn’t been shy about handing these out on a semi-regular basis, though with most of them, there is something to keep in mind. These three keys are only valid for 48 hours from when Pitchford originally posted them, meaning they’ll expire on October 31, 2025.

The Gravitar Class Mod, Reactor, now drops from Inceptus as intended.

The Order Legendary Grenade Skully has been adjusted to properly increase damage of projectiles at higher levels. Also addressed an audio issue with the fire effects that were causing it to not lower in volume with distance.

Corrected the Knife Penetrator Augment, which was unintentionally setting all attacks to a 30% critical chance.

Interacting with Dr. Zed’s Meds and Guns vending machines and Lost Loot machines will now reset any Action Skills, Ordnance, or Repkits currently on cooldown.

Reduced the audio volume on the wings of world boss Spidananggal.
