Jujutsu Kaisen: Modulo is one of the most exciting sequel manga in recent history, and much of that has to do with the incredible talent of Gege Akutami as a writer. Set 68 years after the conclusion of the original Jujutsu Kaisen story, JJK Modulo focuses on completely new characters and delves into the conflict between humans and the alien race of Simuria. When JJK Modulo began, fans were deeply interested in knowing what had become of their beloved characters from the original story.
While the vast majority of them were not deeply involved in the plot, Yuji Itadori, the previous main character, certainly was. His fate was heavily debated for a very long time but now Gege Akutami has made it clear that Yuji Itadori will have a cursed fate in the story moving forward and that he is to play a role similar to Tengen from here on out.

The power to manipulate Ki is one that’s seen in many anime series. These abilities, however, are without a doubt the strongest.
Yuji Itadori Ages Slowly In Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo
Yuji Itadori showed up in JJK Modulo after the conflict between the humans and the Simurians officially began. Japan tried to look for Yuji Itadori in order to get him to champion against Dabura Karaba, the strongest of the Simurians. Unfortunately for them, this never materialized into anything, and Yuka Okkotsu had to fight against Dabura instead. However, Yuji Itadori did show up later when he was filled in by Aoi Todo. When the fighting between the humans and the Rumelians continued to grow, Yuji made use of the powers of Blood Manipulation to put this fighting to an end. But his real role came later down the line when he completely exorcised the Cursed Spirits that were moving out of Tokyo. Following Dabura’s battle with Mahoraga, Yuji showcased a glimpse of his incredible powers to the fans. Then, what came next was even more important, as Yuji Itadori was to be the witness to Maru changing the world forever.
I will continue to live for 300 years or so. — Yuji Itadori
Maru decided to erase cursed spirits from existence completely and bring together the two races of Simurians and humans forever. To watch over this pact being formed, Maru’s cursed technique, Chaos and Harmony, chose Yuji Itadori. As such, Yuji was officially introduced into the main plot and given a very important role in this sequel series. In doing so, Gege Akutami also confirmed Yuji’s fate to the fans. While previously, Nobara stated that Yuji Itadori did not age, Yuji clarified that, at this point, he was more akin to a cursed spirit than a human, which is somewhat similar to what became of Tengen after living for 500 years. At the same time, Yuji Itadori also confirmed that he would live for about 300 years or so. While an exact lifespan was not given to the fans, it is also clear that Yuji isn’t immortal either. Yuji will likely die at some point in the future.
Yuji Itadori Could Die In 300 Years
As was confirmed in JJK Modulo chapter 22, Yuji Itadori will end up dying in about 300 years or so. However, this isn’t exactly good news for fans of the story. This is because Yuji not being able to die immediately keeps him from fulfilling his promise to his grandpa at the beginning of the main story. Yuji Itadori doesn’t want to live long. In fact, all he wants is to die surrounded by the people that he loves. That is exactly what Wasuke Itadori told Yuji to do when he died, and Yuji himself intended to do in the story as well.
Unfortunately for him, he was a special vessel for Ryomen Sukuna birthed by Kenjaku, which gave him special properties. The fact that he consumed the Death Paintings 4-9 only made things worse for him because, as things stand, Yuji is part human and part cursed spirit, and the latter half is actually stronger, if anything. Yuji’s body ages ridiculously slowly, and it is almost as if he continues to stay in his prime. Even though Yuji is already close to 100 years in age, he still looks like he is in his late 30s, and more than that, he himself confirmed that he will stay alive for 300 more years. This means Yuji’s dream of dying surrounded by those he loves is not going to be fulfilled, and that is truly a tragic ending for this character.

Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3 Receives A Disappointing Update For Part 2
JJK season 3 received a massive update that could lead to a massive downgrade in quality of Part 2.
What makes it even more tragic is the fact that Yuji is losing all his friends one by one. It is highly implied that Megumi Fushiguro is already dead as are many others like Yuta Okkotsu, and Maki Zenin. All these characters being dead means Yuji is slowly being left alone, and that is also why he detached himself from Japanese society altogether. Nobara had not seen Yuji in years, and eventually, she will go on to die too, while Yuji Itadori will stay alive to bear the burden of the great change that he and Maru brought about.
Yuji Could Become Similar To Tengen In The Future
Given the route that the story has taken, it is quite clear to see that Yuji Itadori is becoming more like Tengen with each passing chapter. His body is already more cursed spirit than it is human. Eventually, it will completely be dominated by the cursed spirit part, and Yuji will become similar to Tengen. His physical appearance might change as well, and this would give a nod to the events of the Culling Game arc where Yuji eventually met with Tengen. While Yuji commented on his weird appearance, Tengen stated that if he lived for 500 years, he would end up looking something similar. This was great foreshadowing by Gege Akutami, and now that Yuji is going to live for 300 more years, his physical appearance is surely going to change.
If you live as long as me, you’ll end up looking like this too. — Tengen
The more he lives, the more grotesque he will become, and with that, his overall powers will grow as well. Yuji Itadori is going to become the next Tengen of JJK, and it is possible that he will die alone centuries later and finally rest. For now, however, Yuji Itadori has a job to do to watch over the next generation and ensure that this great change brought about by Maru goes to plan. Yuji himself stated that he wants to bear the punishment that comes with altering Japan by minimizing the production of cursed spirits as much as possible, and he will see out this responsibility to the end.
As such, at the end of JJK, Yuji Itadori stays alive but is essentially doomed to his unfortunate fate of staying alive and watching all his friends die one by one. That said, Yuji also resolved to raise the next generation in preparation for the threats that the Cursed Spirits will pose when he’s eventually gone. This is the perfect bittersweet ending for this character by Gege Akutami, and fans couldn’t have asked for something better for this brilliant character.
