Pokemon Pokopia has single and double doors, and a fan has just revealed that there is a way to make the latter open simultaneously. After the massive success that was Animal Crossing: New Horizons six years ago, life simulator fans who had already poured hundreds, if not thousands, of hours into the game were looking for the next best thing. For many players, Pokopia is the game that was able to fill that hole at last, especially for those who love the Pokemon franchise.

There is no doubt that Pokopia shares many similarities with Animal Crossing. Players have a whole world at their feet that they can freely customize as they please. As they go, they will meet dozens of Pokemon and will be responsible for housing them and creating an environment that pleases them. In Pokopia, there are over 300 Pokemon that need a home. On top of this, players will also have to make themselves a home in each town that they visit so they can easily fast travel in Pokopia. They will spend plenty of hours building houses, giving them absolute freedom to explore all sorts of architectural styles and designs.

Pokopia Fan Discovers What Makes Double Doors Open Simultaneously

To create a house in Pokopia, players have to build a closed space, either by placing a gate or door. Some homes simply look better with double doors rather than a simple single door, whether that’s due to their size or style. Many players’ instincts will tell them to put down a door and rotate the other so that the handles are both in the center rather than on the outer part of the door. Unfortunately, when they interact with these doors, only one of them will open. A Pokopia fan, who goes by Gawlf85 on Reddit, has discovered that rotating a door before placing it next to another one is what causes them to be disconnected and not open at the same time.

How to Make Double Doors Connected

Place them next to each other in the same direction

In the comments section, it became clear that many players were following the same logic and thus making the same mistake. These players were confused because whenever they opened double doors in pre-made buildings and homes, they would always open at the same time. Gawlf85 shared that they mistakenly placed a door without rotating it beforehand, and this caused it to slot into place and create a double door that opened correctly. The top comment in the Reddit thread mentioned a subtle detail in Pokopia that might help players tell whether an item can be placed in a chain with similar items. If an item can be connected to another one, they will see a chain icon right underneath its name in the crafting menu.

The chain icon appears on way more items than fans might expect. They can create chains of items, such as fences, enclosures, railroads, doors, and paths. While it is a simple feature, it is something that makes building a lot easier. Gamers don’t have to manually rotate these commonly used items, saving them time. Now that it is clear how this mechanic works, players won’t have to continue rotating chainable items before placing them down. Unfortunately, bridge planks and walkways are not chainable items, so if gamers accidentally place a plank or walkway in the wrong direction, they will have to pick up and try again. Thankfully, the game is still in its early stages, so players can expect Pokopia to receive plenty of quality-of-life updates in the future.
