The following article contains spoilers for Star Wars: Maul – Shadow Lord, Season 1, Episodes 1-8, streaming now on Disney+.Star Wars: Maul – Shadow Lord began with law enforcement trying to track down Maul, with the battle lines seemingly clear. However, the arrival of the Empire and Inquisitor Marrok, the First Brother, signaled a shift in the moral stakes, placing the main cast in far more danger and blurring the lines between the sides.
In Season 1, Episode 7, “Chapter 7: The Call to Oblivion,” the Eleventh Brother arrives in Janix City to aid in his quest to find Maul and the Jedi hiding on the planet. The Eleventh Brother and Marrok have been closely linked before, with the Eleventh Brother initially misidentified as the First Brother of the Inquisitors. The Eleventh Brother and Marrok are far more fearsome in Star Wars: Maul – Shadow Lord than they have been in other Star Wars media, showing just how dangerous the Inquisitors can be, both for Jedi and for the rest of the galaxy.

The Eleventh Brother Is a Loyal Inquisitor for the Empire in Star Wars: Maul – Shadow Lord
The Eleventh Brother is easy to recognize due to his distinctive mask which resembles a crow, earning him the nickname “the Crow.” The Eleventh Brother’s first appearance in Star Wars chronologically is in Star Wars: Tales of the Empire, Season 1, Episode 4, “Devoted.” Like Marrok, he already appears fully indoctrinated into the Inquisitorius Program, kneeling before Darth Vader and proudly stating, “Long live the Empire” when prompted.
The Eleventh Brother was originally misidentified as the First Brother in the Star Wars Encyclopedia: The Comprehensive Guide to the Star Wars Galaxy. The title was quickly attributed to the right character, Inquisitor Marrok, soon after. Still, the Eleventh Brother’s partnership with the First Brother in Star Wars: Maul – Shadow Lord may be a nod to this initial confusion between the two characters, showing them to be close allies within the Inquisitors with shared devotion to the cause.

Darth Maul is Officially Back & Better Than Ever
Star Wars: Maul – Shadow Lord Season 1, Episode 1 Is much better than fans expected and is exactly what the franchise needed in terms of series.
In Star Wars: Maul – Shadow Lord, the Eleventh Brother and the First Brother are a highly effective duo. In Season 1, Episode 7, “Chapter 7: The Call to Oblivion,” their fight with Maul is one of the most visually impressive of the animated series so far. Maul barely escapes them by causing a cave in, but it’s clear that they are a formidable match for Maul, especially when working together. They also strike down Scorn, a Zabrak member of Maul’s crew. Scorn’s brother Icarus’ cry of despair triggers Maul’s memories of his own lost brother, Savage Opress and fuels more of his desire for revenge toward the Inquisitors.
The Eleventh Brother is also shown to be just as ruthless as the First Brother in his pursuit of Maul, especially in Season 1, Episode 8, “Chapter 8: The Creeping Fear.” While the Eleventh Brother’s interrogation of Rylee Lawson is offscreen, Rylee’s shaken state afterward and his conversation about the interrogation with Devon Izara hints at just how bad the interrogation was. By keeping these interrogations offscreen, Star Wars: Maul – Shadow Lord leaves them up to the imagination of the audience, making them far more frightening than if they had actually been shown on screen. Thus far, the Eleventh Brother has proven to be more terrifyingly competant in Star Wars: Maul – Shadow Lord than his other Star Wars appearances, making him a dangerous threat as the series continues.

The Eleventh Brother’s Fate in Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi, Explained
The Eleventh Brother is formidable in Star Wars: Maul – Shadow Lord, and his initial appearance in the Star Wars saga, his last appearance chronologically, shows how far he is willing to go to track down and execute any Jedi left in the galaxy, disregarding the safety of anyone else in the process. In Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi, Season 1, Episode 6, “Resolve.” the Eleventh Brother burns down an entire village, killing most of the citizens, just to try to find the Jedi that was reported to be there. However, he proves to be no match for Ahsoka Tano, who kills him in combat, proving that she is one of the most powerful force users in the galaxy despite never becoming a Jedi Master.
The episode also shows some of the Eleventh Brother’s fatal flaws. He almost kills the informant because he does not find the Jedi reported in the area right away, even though Ahsoka has been gone from the village for a short time. While he is talented at fighting with his lightsabers, on his own, Ahsoka defeats him easily even though she is still likely a teen at the time of the episode. However, Ahsoka’s defeat of the Eleventh Brother is more impressive with the context of Star Wars: Maul – Shadow Lord, which better shows off the Eleventh Brother’s combat skills. Her battle with the Eleventh Brother also is a pivotal moment in Ahsoka’s story, leading her to come out of hiding and join the fledgling rebellion against the Empire.
Despite the Eleventh Brother’s defeat, “Resolve” holds dire implications for Janix and Janix City in Star Wars: Maul – Shadow Lord. The Eleventh Brother’s willingness to destroy the farming village shows that he will destroy Janix City if he has to in order to catch his prey. He also does not care about anyone caught in the crossfire of his objective. Thus, since Maul, his Shadow Collective, the Lawsons, and the Jedi remain trapped in Janix City, the Eleventh Brother will still be wreaking havoc in the final two episodes of the season, and the death count in Janix City could rise even higher as the Inquisitors continue their search.
