PlayStation Plus has already revealed every single game coming to the service this month, meaning every game on or coming to the Essential, Extra, and Premium tiers, but there’s a bonus freebie hidden in the PlayStation Store. Anyone who enjoys old school platform games like Banjo Kazooie and Mario 64 may want to download this game via PS Plus before its free period expires on May 28 at 1:59 AM CT (essentially midnight for PT folks).
Of course, the PS Plus free games for May 2026 (aka the Essential Tier) are already available to claim: EA Sports FC 26, Wuchang: Fallen Feathers, and Nine Sols. Meanwhile, the PS Plus Extra and Premium games will join their respective catalogs on May 19, with those titles being recently announced to be Star Wars Outlaws, Red Dead Redemption 2, Bramble: The Mountain King, The Thaumaturge, Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn, Broken Sword: Shadows of the Templar – Reforged, Enotria: The Last Song, and Time Crisis (PS Plus Premium required). Yet, sometimes PS Plus users can claim bonuses outside the standard selection of games, and that’s what where this new title falls.

PS Plus subscribers can also claim and download Woodle Tree Adventures right now, but don’t let its simple presentation and name fool you. It’s sort of a controversial game given how widespread its reviews are, with some players hating it and others loving it. It tries to capture that old school platform vibe, focusing more on ’90s platformer design than modern games. Players explore 6 worlds and attempt to save each one with magical water drops. It’s not particularly difficult, and to some degree can be considered a more cozy take on Banjo and Mario 64.

For example, it has a generally unfavorable Metascore of 28 (out of 4 reviews) on Metacritic, while its user scores are a bit higher at 5.5 (out of 27 reviews) indicating mixed reviews. Depending on the platform, Woodle Tree Adventures typically costs between $4-5, so while it’s not the most expensive PlayStation game ever, that money can go toward other things if picked up via PS Plus. Furthermore, even if you do not have PS Plus, it’s available at a 70% discount in the same promotion period, costing only $1.49.

Every game there is a banger, but especially with Red Dead 2 re-joining PS Plus, there are plenty of reasons to take advantage of PS Plus this month.
