When a man of phenomenal power comes knocking on the door, that man hardly needs any bells and whistles. In Mission: Yozakura Family, that man is Momo Yozakura, and he can do just fine without having a door to knock on. In fact, if we are to believe Doctor Kawashita, Momo may not even be a man.

What Happened in Episode 6: Momo Yozakura the Family Guy
“Family get-togethers are so much fun. How fun they are!” – Momo Yozakura
Shining with his great sense of elation at having used his Silver Rank license card for the first time, Taiyo heads straight to Doctor Kawashita. Well on his way to making a new contribution to some of the best story arcs in Mission: Yozakura Family, Taiyo assures Futaba and the rest of the Yozakura siblings that nothing bad is going to happen. Little does he know that Momo Yozakura has a different idea of Taiyo’s day well spent.
As soon as Momo materializes out of thin air, Episode 6 spirals into an epic showdown between the deranged father and his sons and daughters, taking the heart of Season 2 for a tasteful shonen battle action spin. In the aftermath of this kinetic exchange between some of the strongest special powers in Mission: Yozakura Family, the Kawashita Interrogation Arc culminates in moving monologs and the start of something darker.
What Awaits in Episode 7: The Yozakura Roots Arc Begins
As the end of Episode 6 reveals the name of the new episode, titled “At the Old Yozakura Residence,” we get a major insight into what comes next in Season 2. Pointing directly to Chapter 106 of Volume 13 in Hitsuji Gondaira’s completed Mission: Yozakura Family manga series, Episode 7 marks the start of the Yozakura Roots Arc.
On its way to Chapter 106, however, the manga moves us from one major story arc to the next through Chapter 103 where the Yozakura siblings team up to help Taiyo take Profuse Blooming under control. Perhaps we’ll get a glimpse of this chapter’s adaptation in the new episode, as it packs its fair share of situational hilarity.
Down the Family Rabbit Hole: At the Old Yozakura Residence
Anchored in the same-titled Chapter 106, Episode 7 sends Taiyo and the Yozakura siblings down the trail left by Momo Yozakura’s Someinine. This fragmented trail takes them to Ninomae Manor – the abandoned residence of Lady Ninomae Yozakura who was the second head of the Yozakura clan.
As Momo’s ideas about fatherhood steadily rank him higher among the most toxic fathers in anime, the mystery of Momo’s trail in this place drives Taiyo, Shion, Futaba, and Shinzo to explore it. Without spoiling our appetite for Episode 7, let’s say that Lady Ninomae’s residence is still very much hers, and she doesn’t hesitate to show it in Chapter 107.
Because of the tight thematic link between the two chapters, Chapter 107 is very likely to be at the core of the adaptation in Episode 7 along with Chapter 106. Considering what the manga has to share with us about the nature of Someinine levels in modern-day Lady Ninomae, we are in for yet another highly dynamic fight scene in Episode 7.
Quite Some Room for Lovely Slice-of-Life To Bloom
From Shion’s reluctant masterclass in computer maintenance to Mutsumi’s debut in the world of dieting, Chapters 104 and 105 of Volume 12 in the manga wrap the Yozakura Roots Arc in a cozy blanket of slice-of-life comedy. The same holds true for Chapters 108 and 109 of Volume 13, where we can relax into the family’s carefree sorting through their old storage and the hilarity of Kengo’s skincare trials and tribulations.
Belonging among the top series blending slice-of-life and shonen anime, Mission: Yozakura Family does an excellent job at reaching a nuanced harmony between multiple anime genres and audiences. Sadly, the limited scope of Season 2 compels the anime adaptation to forgo certain parts of the manga. Still and all, Episode 7 may have some room for these lighthearted moments that help us all cool off from the action heat of the main arc.
How Episode 7 Shapes the Rest of Season 2
Despite its daring experiments with rearranging certain manga parts, Mission: Yozakura Family does a great job at preserving thematic coherence. This gives the anime adaptation every chance to succeed among the smoothest fast-paced anime gems. Even so, it’s unlikely that Episode 7 will attempt to integrate the entire Yozakura Roots Arc within the scope of just one episode.
With its thrilling settings and eventful nature, not to mention the surrounding slice-of-life comedy to balance all the action, this thematic arc stretches all the way into Chapter 110 of Volume 13 in the manga series. This makes the Yozakura Roots Arc too juicy to rush through in Episode 7 alone.
With that said, the pacing set by Episode 7 is still bound to shape how smoothly the rest of Season 2 unfolds. Let’s hope that the catalytic pacing of the previous few episodes was just a small leap toward the more exciting arc ahead and not the start of a lingering story pacing flurry.
