The Hito Hito no Mi was officially introduced in One Piece Chapter 138 on June 5, 2000, in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump Issue #27. 26 years have passed since then, and the Hito Hito no Mi continues to grow in terms of importance in the overarching plotline of One Piece.
In the Paramount War, specifically in Chapter 571, Eiichiro Ohara expanded the concept of Hito Hito no Mi by introducing the Daibutsu model, wielded by Sengoku, on January 25, 2010. Years later, in One Piece Chapter 1044, which was officially revealed on March 23, 2022, in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump Issue #17, One Piece officially unveiled Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Nika. Now, deep into the climax of the Elbaf Arc, Eiichiro Oda has officially set up the reveal of two more Hito Hito no Mi after the conclusion of the Elbaf, which makes for an incredibly exciting plot line that we can’t wait to see.
One Piece Chapter 1182 And 287 Set Up The Reveal Of Two New Hito Hito no Mi, Models Forest And Earth God
When One Piece unveiled the power of Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Nika, it opened the door to a whole new world of possibilities in the story. Immediately after this reveal, we tied this exciting piece of information pertaining to the deities of the One Piece world to Chapter 287 of the manga, which was released officially in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump issue #37-38 on August 11, 2003. In this incredible chapter of the story, Eiichiro Oda showcased the existence of various Gods of the world. At the time, we mostly assumed these Gods to be myths that exist in the One Piece world. Now, with a category of mythical Zoan types that bring myths into reality, all these Gods are slowly becoming real. One Piece Chapter 287 officially introduced us to the Earth God, the Forest God, the Rain God, and the Sun God.

In One Piece chapter 1182, which was released on May 10, 2026, in Weekly Shonen Jump Issue #24, Eiichiro Oda officially introduced the Rain God to us. Immediately after this reveal, it became clear that all the Gods in Chapter 287 truly exist in the world of One Piece.

With two of the four Gods having already been revealed, there is a high likelihood of the other two Gods showing up following the conclusion of the Elbaf Arc. The Final Saga of Eiichiro Oda’s One Piece will thus reveal all four Gods that were first teased in One Piece chapter 287, making way for the reveal of Hito Hito no Mi Forest God model as well as Hito Hito no Mi Earth God model.

Why Rain God, Forest God, and Earth God Will Finally Reveal Themselves After Elbaf
Right now, Monkey D. Luffy is the only individual confirmed to be a user of a Hito Hito no Mi God Model. However, Rain God Zaza has already been confirmed to exist in the world of One Piece in chapter 1182, meaning someone already has this Devil Fruit or the fruit remains waiting for someone to come and eat it. Given that all these fruits are Zoan, only the person with the right personality match can consume it, as was confirmed in Chapter 1044 on March 23, 2026.

As such, Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Zaza is either meant for someone opposing the World Government and has used the power of winds and rain, such as Dragon, or someone who has a thematic connection to the concept of rain, such as Nefertari Vivi. Other than Zaza, there are two more God Hito Hito no Mi versions that are going to be introduced in the final saga of One Piece. These are the Hito Hito no Mi Forest God version, and the Earth God version. Neither of these Devil Fruits has been unveiled so far, but it will be interesting to see whom Eiichiro Oda assigns them to when they are introduced later down the line, following the conclusion of One Piece’s Elbaf arc.
As things stand, Eiichiro Oda has already confirmed that One Piece will begin its next arc in 2026 and that this arc will take the Straw Hat Pirates to the Final Island in the Grand Line. While the wording here used implies that this island is Laugh Tale, it could also be Lodestar Island, which is known to be the last island in the Grand Line itself where Roger and his crew officially learned about the Poneglyphs, as explained in chapter 966, which was officially released in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump Issue #4-5 on December 23, 2019. This arc is likely going to be incredibly exciting and will likely introduce the other variants of the Hito Hito no Mi to us.

One Piece’s Final Saga Will Be A Battle Of Gods

The Final Saga of Eiichiro Oda’s One Piece is heavily focused on Gods, as is evident from Monkey D. Luffy’s role as Sun God Nika. Along with him are Warrior God Nidhoggr, Devil God Nerona Imu, Rain God Zaza, and now, two more god reveals are coming following the conclusion of the Elbaf arc. Evidently, One Piece’s Great War, which was heavily teased in chapter 1146 by Gunko on April 21, 2025, is highly likely to see all these major Gods play a significant role, with potentially even the Serpent of Hellfire, teased in One Piece chapter 1138 titled “Harley” on February 3, 2025, playing a role as well.
We are eager to see how all these Gods, especially those whose powers stem from the Hito Hito no Mi variants, influence the story moving forward. Just like in the Void Century 800 years ago, their powers are going to greatly make or break the world of One Piece in the last stage of the story and pave the way for a new world order to emerge, be it for better or for worse. Monkey D. Luffy, the protagonist of the series, is central to it all. In either case, we are in for an exciting experience moving forward, and Eiichiro Oda is surely not going to disappoint.
