In Solarpunk, players need to get ten Truffles to get the fourth Airship Upgrade from the tradebot. And since the only way to get Truffle is to farm pigs, it is very important that players get started on their pig farm as quickly as possible to get the upgrade as soon as possible.

How to Set Up a Pig Farm in Solarpunk
If you’re looking for pigs and Truffles, you should already be familiar with how farming works in this game, since you will have set up a chicken farm to get eggs to reach this point in the game. For pigs, the process is essentially the same. The only difference being that instead of a Chicken Coop, you need a Pig Shelter to provide shelter to these animals.
To break it down, there are four things you need to set up a pig farm in Solarpunk:
Item
How to Unlock
Recipe
Pig Shelter
Research “Pig Shelter” at a Tier 6 Research Table (requires Carrot x5, Wood x5)
Feeding Trough
Research “Basic Animals Pack” at a Level 5 Research Table (requires Wheat x5)
Water Trough
Research “Basic Animals Pack” at a Level 5 Research Table (requires Wheat x5)
Wood x10
Stone x10
Iron x5
Feed Bag
Research “Basic Animals Pack” at a Level 5 Research Table (requires Wheat x5)
Carrots and Sunflower (required to upgrade Research Table to Tier 6) can both be found on the same islands where you encounter the pigs.
You can set up your pig farm right next to your chicken farm, and the pigs and the chickens will share the Feeding Trough, the Water Trough, and the Feed without any problems.
Where to Find Pigs in Solarpunk
In Solarpunk, you can get pigs the same way you get chickens: by placing an Animal Receiving Station in your base and using an Animal Transportation device to teleport the pigs to the receiving station.
There are only three pigs in the game that you can find, and you can only reach them after you upgrade your Airship to level 3.
Pig #1 Location: Found on the small island northwest of the starting island, at the edge of the travel circle of a level 3 Airship.
Pig #2 Location: Found on the island northeast of the starting island, at the edge of the travel circle of a level 3 Airship.
Pig #3 Location: Found on the large island located directly south of the starting island, at the edge of the travel circle of a level 3 Airship.
The pigs like to roam about the island and may not have a fixed location you can find them in. Explore the islands marked in the screenshot above, and you’ll eventually run into them. Once you find one, simply interact with it using an Animal Transportation device, and it will be transported back to wherever you placed the Animal Receiving Station in your base.

How to Lure Pigs in Solarpunk
Once the pigs have been transported back to your base, you’ll need to guide them to the Pig Shelter that you should’ve already set up for them. Unlike chickens, pigs are not attracted to wheat, and waving it in front of them will make no difference. Instead, you can lure pigs using carrots.
To lure a pig, equip a carrot in your hotbar and approach the pig. It will immediately start following you. Walk slowly to avoid running too far away, and slowly lead the pig to the Pig Shelter. When it’s nearby, it will automatically be registered to that Pig Shelter. You’ll know when it’s done because the pig’s name will appear on a signboard attached to the shelter.
How to Farm Truffles in Solarpunk
To get Truffles in Solarpunk, you need to make sure the pigs in your pig farm are fed, watered, and sheltered. Pigs have the same needs as chickens, and as long as they are cared for properly, you’ll regularly find Truffles in the basket attached to the Pig Shelter.
There are three needs you need to pay attention to:
Shelter: As long as a Pig is registered to a Pig Shelter, its shelter needs will be met.
Thirst: Make sure there is a filled Water Trough near the Pig Shelter, and your pig will remain hydrated.
Hunger: Keep the Feeding Trough filled up to the brim with feed (doesn’t matter which kind), and the pigs will be happy.
Remember that pigs eat a lot more feed compared to chickens, so make sure you have extra feed handy in case you run short.
