Kathy Griffin encouraged the internet not to pull any punches as she showed off her new 22-year-old boyfriend, more than four decades her junior.
The controversial comic, 65, debuted her young blond beau in an Instagram post Thursday showing them out on the town in New York. They’re pictured holding hands while getting into a car outside the Shubert Theatre — with the awning of Sardi’s visible in the background.
“He’s 22. Have at it, internet,” wrote the Emmy winner, who sports a black dress and heels in the photo, while avoiding looking directly at the camera, as her baby bae, in a black polo and black pants, makes eye contact with the photographer.
The Daily News has reached out to representatives for Griffin for more information about the man.
“He’s 22? Perfect. Old enough to vote, young enough to think Olive Garden is fancy. Go have fun,” commented one user.
“Since they all eventually act like five-year-olds anyway, might as well go for shiny and new,” said another. “Less maintenance and upkeep.”
“Im 24 in case U want someone a bit older Kathy,” wrote one hopeful.
“This is so f–king iconic,” said another supporter.
Griffin even said she was “DYING AT THESE COMMENTS,” with clapping emojis as well as a laughing crying one.
While one detractor pointed to Joan Rivers’ disinterest in younger men, another user observed, “If it were a 65+ year old man with a 22 year old woman, the comments would be very, very different.”
They weren’t wrong. Griffin’s comments section was markedly more supportive than social media users weighing in on Wednesday’s news of Luke Wilson, 54, welcoming his first child with his 24-year-old girlfriend.
That “problematic” headline spawned comparisons to former New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick — who at age 74 is nearly 50 years older than his 25-year-old girlfriend, Jordon Hudson.
