Nintendo has revealed the official map for the highly-anticipated The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake, giving fans a first look at the new Kingdom of Hyrule. Nintendo’s Ocarina of Time remake is scheduled to release in November.

The new version of the beloved 3D Zelda adventure has been a highlight of the franchise’s 40th anniversary. Nintendo put the game in the spotlight in early September with a full Nintendo Direct focused on the Legend of Zelda franchise, showing off the first gameplay and a plethora of new features. The Ocarina of Time remake adds a variety of new features to the game, including motion-controlled aiming with the Joy-Cons, voice input for the Ocarina, and the “Threads of Time,” which serves as an easily accessible synopsis of the story so far. Now, fans are getting a first look at the re-imagining of a classic version of Hyrule.

As part of a slew of new screenshots uploaded to Ocarina of Time’s Japanese website, Nintendo released the first full map of Hyrule. The map is stylized to appear as though it were drawn on parchment, showing all of Hyrule’s most recognizable locations, like Hyrule Castle Town, Kokiri Forest, and Gerudo Valley. Many fans have already pointed out that some areas like the Ice Cavern and the Kakariko Village Graveyard appear larger on the map, suggesting that some smaller zones from Ocarina of Time may have expanded in the remake. The map also highlights one noteworthy change to Hyrule Field, adding a new stone bridge that connects to Zora’s River.

Nintendo’s first look at the new Kingdom of Hyrule has already shown off plenty of changes in the new version of Ocarina of Time. Kokiri Forest has undergone a redesign in the remake, changing several pathways and re-designing many of the major locations within the forest. The back alleys of Hyrule Castle Town have expanded significantly from their original iteration, allowing players to explore more of the town outside the main plaza, which includes new mini-games. Another significant change from the original game is that time continues to flow even after Link enters towns or settlements, though the Ocarina of Time remake’s days and nights are longer to compensate.

The Ocarina of Time remake came with plenty more exciting news for Zelda fans beyond the game itself. Nintendo officially revealed a special limited-edition Nintendo Switch 2 console set to release alongside Ocarina of Time, celebrating the franchise’s 40th anniversary with green Joy-Cons bearing Zelda-themed designs. Nintendo is also debuting a new version of the Pro Controller for the Nintendo Switch 2 with a similar color scheme to the new Joy-Cons, marking only the second time the Nintendo Switch 2 has received a special controller.

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is not the only major project the franchise has coming in the near future. The live-action Legend of Zelda movie is currently scheduled to premiere on April 30, 2027, starring Benjamin Evan Ainsworth as Link and Bo Bragason as Princess Zelda. Shigeru Miyamoto also confirmed that the Legend of Zelda movie will not feature a subtitle attaching it to any pre-existing Zelda game, and hinted that the reasoning will be clear after viewers see the movie. Zelda fans are in for an exciting time throughout the coming months, between a remake of a beloved Zelda game and the series’ first feature film adaptation.
