Years after the events of Naruto Shippuden, the series’ titular protagonist, Naruto Uzumaki, finally becomes the Seventh Hokage. His power progression has not been shown in greater detail since, but with the production of Boruto, Naruto Uzumaki gained new powers that, in many ways, replaced everything he lost in the aftermath of the Fourth Great Ninja War.

Boruto: How The Writers Nerfed Naruto Uzumaki
Naruto Uzumaki was extremely nerfed in Boruto. Sasuke received similar treatment.
While Naruto has been cast aside in Boruto: Two Blue Vortex, sealed with his wife in another dimension, he remains a top-tier shinobi capable of fighting powerful villains, albeit with less power at his disposal. If he returns in the future, it is uncertain how Naruto would utilize his newfound powers to distinguish himself once more.
Naruto’s Prosthetic Arm Has Some Serious Advantages
In the aftermath of Naruto Uzumaki’s final fight with Sasuke Uchiha in the infamous Valley of the End, the character’s right arm did not survive the brutal battle. As a result, Lady Tsunade immediately came to Naruto’s aid by granting him a cultured artificial prosthetic arm made from Hashirama Senju’s cells.
Naruto’s new prosthetic arm serves as a compatible replacement for his right arm, offering near-perfect mobility and dexterity. It also allows Naruto to channel and manipulate chakra just as effectively as before, making it almost indistinguishable from his original arm.
Naruto’s Scientifically Modified Arm Can Absorb and Neutralize Enemy Attacks
Boruto takes place in a modern shinobi world, where science and technology have replaced many of the traditional methods and tools once used in combat. With the rise of scientific ninja tools in the series, Naruto Uzumaki ends up gaining a scientifically modified prosthetic arm, otherwise referred to as the Absorbing Hand.
This Absorbing Hand is an advanced version of Lady Tsunade’s cultured prosthetic arm, modified by the ever-brilliant scientist Katasuke Tono and his scientific ninja team. It is equipped with more mechanical features, allowing Naruto to absorb and neutralize enemy attacks much like his chakra absorption technique. It also functions similarly to Momoshiki Otsutsuki’s ability, although its discharge effects are still not fully functional.

Naruto’s Power May Have Declined, But His Sage Mode Got Better
It’s no secret that Naruto’s power level has significantly declined in Boruto, especially in Two Blue Vortex, thanks in large part to Kurama’s absence in his body, as well as the rise of overpowered alien villains in the series. Worse, Naruto still remains vulnerable and sealed in another dimension with little potential for growth.
However, that doesn’t mean Naruto never received a permanent power-up, as the current Naruto has been confirmed to use an enhanced version of Sage Mode in Boruto. This version of Sage Mode is far more effective, allowing Naruto to enter Sage Mode faster than ever and maintain it for much longer than normal. For now, this enhanced version of Sage Mode is Naruto’s only option to access a significant power boost in battle.
Naruto Could Eventually Wield Hashirama’s Legendary Wood Release
For some reason, Boruto continues to highlight Wood Release users throughout the story. In particular, the Shinju Clones reign supreme as the strongest Wood Release users in Two Blue Vortex, capable of overwhelming even some of the series’ strongest shinobi with their immense offensive, defensive, and regenerative powers.
On the other hand, there’s Naruto, whose prosthetic arm has been cultured with Hashirama Senju’s cells. This sets up the possibility that Naruto could eventually develop Wood Release and gain access to one of the series’ most powerful abilities. After all, Naruto has mastery over all five nature transformations, so it wouldn’t come as a surprise if he eventually learned to use Wood Release.
The Parent and Child Rasengan Is Naruto and Boruto’s Ultimate Combo Attack
Being a parent is hard, especially for Naruto, who carries the responsibility of protecting Konoha and the entire shinobi world from otherworldly threats. He spends less time with his family, including Boruto, who initially resents his father for taking them for granted.
Despite Naruto’s mishaps as a father, he eventually defied expectations by supporting Boruto when it mattered most. During their fight against Momoshiki, Naruto and Boruto’s bond proved stronger than any of Momoshiki’s attacks, ultimately resulting in a massive Parent and Child Rasengan that completely overwhelmed Momoshiki in a single shot.
Baryon Mode Rasengan Takes Naruto’s Signature Attack to Another Level
To this day, Naruto Uzumaki’s signature attack is none other than the Rasengan. Naruto often relies on the Rasengan in nearly every fight throughout the series, using the powerful technique that Minato Namikaze invented as a fight-ending blow. Naruto also did his part in developing the Rasengan thoroughly, as he grew capable of using its different variants.
One of the strongest Rasengan variants that Naruto recently used in Boruto is the Baryon Mode Rasengan. As the name implies, Baryon Mode Rasengan can only be used when Naruto is in Baryon Mode form, making it a one-time power-up as well. This version of Rasengan packs more destructive power, as even an Otsutsuki like Isshiki gets blown away by its incredible impact.
Naruto’s Baryon Mode Is His Most Dangerous Power Up in Boruto
When the Almighty Isshiki Otsutsuki wreaks havoc on Boruto, Naruto exhausts every powerful form and ability at his disposal to counter him. He fought alongside his fiercest rival, Sasuke, going so far as to combine their powers to subdue Isshiki before the Otsutsuki’s plans come to fruition. However, even with their combined force, Naruto and Sasuke failed to defeat Isshiki.
In a desperate attempt to win against Isshiki, Naruto’s one-time overpowered form, Baryon Mode, was born. This form is unlike any other, as Baryon Mode rapidly consumes life force, granting Naruto a massive power spike that basically allows him to fight Isshiki on equal footing. In an instant, Naruto went from being helpless to becoming an unstoppable powerhouse, but once the time limit became a problem, Baryon Mode claimed Kurama’s life.
