Masteries refer to your ability to do certain tasks in Graveyard Keeper 2, and you’ll want to make sure that your Mastery levels are as high as possible if you want to progress through the game smoothly. These are mainly increased by equipping tools, though there are also perks in the Inspirations tab that grant you permanent and situational Mastery bonuses. Your zombie workers in Graveyard Keeper 2 also need to be at certain Mastery levels before they can start performing tasks in your base.

Each of these tools and kits provides a minimum +1 bonus to their respective Masteries, with higher-tier versions providing a better bonus. The tools for the Building, Smithing, and Farming Masteries are all required to perform their related Mastery’s tasks — you can’t chop down trees without an axe, or catch fish without a fishing rod. Tool kits are the exception, though, as you can still perform Smithing tasks without them.
Give any of these tools to your zombies so they can get Mastery levels for the tasks you want them to do.

You need to unlock the technologies listed above and have the necessary crafting stations ready in order to craft the various tiers of Mastery equipment in Graveyard Keeper 2. If you’ve hit a roadblock and can’t craft any more equipment to raise your Mastery, then your only choice is to unlock passive skills from the Inspirations tab. There are skills that flat-out give you a +1 Mastery bonus, while others provide additional Mastery only while performing certain tasks. Such skills include:

Getting enough skill points to unlock these passives is going to take a long time. Apart from collecting Faith, you’ll also need to complete objectives related to each Mastery category. The latter is simple enough, but if you’re looking to get more Faith, you’ll want to use Faith Prayers when performing sermons. You’ll also want to make sure that you’re keeping Panic Reduction effects from the PR Machine active before you start your sermons.
