Here are some of the companies making headlines in midday trading. Carnival — Carnival rose 12% after the cruise operator reported third quarter earnings ahead of Wall Street estimates before the market open. Management reported that bookings were strong despite the macro challenges facing consumers, and noted the 2027 calendar year was booked at record occupancy while 2028 occupancy and prices were also higher year over year. Royal Caribbean and Norwegian Cruise Line advanced in sympathy, climbing 6% and about 4%, respectively. Iovance Biotherapeutics — The biotech company focused on cancer treatments surged 26% after raising its full-year revenue guidance. Iovance now sees revenue of $410 million to $420 million, up from $350 million to $370 million previously. Bloom Energy — Shares jumped 13%. Jefferies increased its price target to $264 from $229, while maintaining its hold rating, citing the energy company’s growth outlook. In addition, the city of Fremont, Calif. posted on LinkedIn Friday that Bloom Energy acquired a 158,000 square-foot facility for its expansion. Artificial intelligence plays — Companies linked to the AI buildout effort rose as investors snapped up shares. Lumentum advanced 6%, while Nebius Group jumped 4%. CoreWeave gained nearly 2%. Oracle — The database management platform rallied more than 5%. Oracle debuted its Fusion Claw agentic application “that combines AI reasoning with deterministic enterprise computation to enable highly complex work to be economically completed at scale,” a statement said. Fair Isaac — Shares plunged 18% after Federal Housing Finance Agency director Bill Pulte introduced changes to mortgage pricing. “We are Simplifying Mortgage Pricing following feedback from lenders and consumers. Instead of two separate pricing grids, which makes zero sense, Fannie and Freddie are hereby moving to ONE PRICING GRID with VantageScore joining the existing FICO Classic pricing grid,” Pulte said in a post on X. Bloomin’ Brands — The parent of Outback Steakhouse added 3% after a JPMorgan upgrade to neutral from underweight. The bank pointed to several changes implemented by the restaurant chain, including a new steak lineup and a “reduction [in] table to server ratio during peak hours from 6 tables to 4 tables.” SpaceX — Shares rose 2% after TD Cowen initiated research coverage of the space company with a buy rating . Analysts pointed to growth in artificial intelligence and space exploration as key drivers for SpaceX. Summit Therapeutics — The drugmaker gained 5% after announcing a $2 billion investment from AstraZeneca. “Summit has established agreements with AstraZeneca for a strategic equity investment in Summit and a clinical collaboration focused on ivonescimab and sonesitatug vedotin (sone-ve),” Summit said in a release. Ivonescimab and sonesitatug vedotin are drugs aimed at treating cancer. CarMax — The used car retailer gained more than 5% after posting better-than-expected second-quarter results. CarMax earned $1.16 per share on revenue of $7.88 billion. Analysts polled by FactSet expected a profit of 73 cents per share on revenue of $7.09 billion. CNBC’s Nick Wells, Michelle Fox, Paulina Likos, Scott Schnipper and Darla Mercado contributed reporting.
