PS5 Gets Brand-New Console Update for October 2026

The PlayStation 5 has rolled out a brand-new update for October 2026, making fixes to the Sony console’s system software. The PS5 patch kicks off what looks to be an exciting month for Sony’s flagship gaming platform, with plenty of new releases on the way.

Sony has officially rolled out a new system update for the PlayStation 5 to mark the start of October. The update is fairly light on content, with only two notable changes made to the console, aimed at pushing security fixes to system software and improving performance and stability. Sony confirmed that the patch will roll out in phases, with not all players receiving the patch immediately, though it is expected to be available on all consoles within 24 hours of its initial announcement. The update serves as a smaller patch to follow up on Sony’s 14.00.00 patch, which added a Trending Games widget to the PS5 and made improvements to voice chat.
