Xbox Giving Away Clair Obscur-Themed Series X Console

Microsoft is giving away a custom Xbox Series X themed after Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. The one-of-a-kind Xbox Series X model is meant to commemorate the RPG’s forthcoming release.

Initially announced during the June 2024 Xbox Games Showcase, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is the debut title from French studio Sandfall Interactive. The game is scheduled to launch for the Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC this Thursday, April 24.

Microsoft is promoting the upcoming release by giving away a Clair Obscur-themed Xbox Series X. While the company has a long track record of using custom Xbox consoles to promote game launches, what makes this giveaway distinctive is that it’s running exclusively on Reddit. The main requirement for entry is a response naming three characters from any game who could be brought to face the Paintress, the main antagonist of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. The entry must also include reasoning for each choice, which is encouraged to be as creative as possible.

Fan responses should be posted in the comment section of the official giveaway thread on the r/Xbox subreddit. Only one submission is allowed per user, with duplicate entries resulting in an immediate disqualification. Another requirement to keep in mind is that only entries from Reddit accounts that have a minimum of 50 total karma and are at least two months old will be accepted. This particular limitation was ostensibly imposed to prevent people from cheating by creating multiple accounts to enroll and improve their chances of winning. The winner will be decided using RedditRaffler.com on the day of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33’s release, April 24.

Regarding regional eligibility, the giveaway is open to North America, South America, Australia, and Europe. However, the console itself is a U.S. build that comes with a stateside-only warranty. Like every other Xbox Series X model, this one-of-a-kind Clair Obscur-themed console is region-free and can hence play physical games bought anywhere in the world. The device comes with a custom wireless controller styled after Sandfall Interactive’s upcoming RPG.

The main and only reward of the ongoing giveaway also includes a digital download code for the Deluxe Edition of Clair Obscur: Expeditions 33. Aside from the game itself, the higher-tier edition includes custom outfits for Maelle and Gustave, as well as half a dozen outfits from the so-called “Flowers” Collection—one for each playable character. In the case of an ineligible winner, Microsoft will hold a second draw, which will also be verifiable via RedditRaffler.com.
