The Xbox Store’s Mafia sale sees all three previously released games at discounts of up to 85% off. But it’s not just the original titles, it’s actually the Definitive Edition of each title that is up for grabs at an extreme discount. Some might call it robbery.

After Grand Theft Auto III changed video games forever with its 2021 release, many publishers were quick to attempt to follow the trend. Thus, Illusion Softworks was tasked with developing a similar style of game that would become the original Mafia. To the surprise of many, the title wasn’t just a blatant rip-off of Grand Theft Auto III. Instead, it was completely competent in its own right and delivered a story that critics found more mature and realistic.
Mafia: Definitive Edition is currently available through Xbox Game Pass.
The original launched on PC, PlayStation 2, and Xbox in 2002. But in 2020, Hangar 13 was given the keys to develop Mafia: Definitive Edition. The project was essentially developed from the ground up and brought the origins of the franchise onto the much more powerful PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. Now, Xbox owners can download it for extremely cheap. It’s currently listed at 85% off, knocking its price down to just $6.

Mafia II: Definitive Edition

Mafia II would continue the story that its predecessor began. The sequel was released for the next generation of consoles, including PC, PlayStation 3, and Xbox One, in 2010. But Mafia II: Definitive Edition, a remastered version with updated graphics. released alongside Mafia I: Definitive Edition in 2020.
It wasn’t just upgraded visuals that were included, though. All of the original sequel’s DLC came included in the Definitive Edition package. There were three story add-ons in total: The Betrayal of Jimmy, Jimmy’s Vendetta, and Joe’s Adventures. The entire package is now available for Xbox owners for a mere $6.

Mafia III: Definitive Edition

That latest entry in the Mafia series, Mafia III, was the first to be fully developed by Hangar 13. The 2016 game was lauded for its story and ended up becoming 2K’s fastest-selling title ever at the time across PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
A few years later, Mafia III: Definitive Edition would take the base game and repackage it with all of the original DLCs that were released. This included the Family Kick-Back Pack and Judge, Jury & Executioner Weapons Pack. As well as the trio of story content, Faster, Baby!, Stones Unturned, and Sign of the Times.

Don’t Forget to Preorder Mafia: The Old Country
All of these Xbox Mafia sales are to help promote the upcoming release of Mafia: The Old Country. The developers did a recent deep dive into the upcoming game at PAX East, and there was a lot to learn about the title’s setting of 1900s Sicily.
It was also revealed that the base game would be listed at $50 and the Deluxe Edition would be priced at $60. The developers went on to explain why it was seemingly cheaper than other major titles. The primary reason being that the game intends to tell a more focused and streamlined narrative.
