In the Dragon Ball fan base, there has been a long-time debate regarding the most powerful mortal in the series. Although the Super Hero film and the publication of Chapter 103 have stirred it up again due to the emergence of Gohan Beast and the awakening of Broly’s strongest form, the answer to this was actually revealed even before the movie was released.
From every metric, it can be assumed that Gogeta is the strongest mortal in the entire series, particularly because of the stability of the Metamoran Fusion Dance. Due to his immense power, he is widely considered to be the most powerful character in Dragon Ball Super, capable of defeating some of the most terrifying heroes and villains in the franchise.

Merged Zamasu Would Be Far Weaker Than Gogeta
Debut Arc: Goku Black Arc

Merged Zamasu was an impossibly powerful and durable fusion of two different versions of one insane God who fused through the Potara Earrings. In fact, this resulting fusion was so powerful that he truly held his own against Super Saiyan Blue Vegito, who was the most powerful character in the story at that point.
However, despite his performance against Vegito, Merged Zamasu would easily be defeated by Gogeta, as he was already being overpowered by a version of Vegito who was far weaker than a modern iteration would be. Seeing as how both of these fusions are equal in power, the current version of Gogeta, without the fear of defusing, would defeat Zamasu before he would even react.

Jiren Simply Can’t Measure Up to the Power of Fusion
Debut Arc: Universe Survival Arc

Jiren was the ultimate warrior of Universe 11 who was so powerful that he was rumored to be even stronger than his God of Destruction, Belmod. While this statement is vague and is probably missing some nuance, it still speaks to his awesome strength, which was enough to allow him to hold his own against Mastered Ultra Instinct Goku.
However, in a hypothetical match-up against the ultimate fusion, Jiren would be met with a swift defeat. Super Saiyan Blue Gogeta didn’t even concede a single hit when he fought Broly, who is explicitly stated to be stronger than anyone before him, so it comes as no surprise that Jiren would be dealt with just as easily.

Moro’s Planet-Eating Powers Still Wouldn’t Be Enough to Save Him
Debut Arc: Galactic Prisoner Patrol Arc
As one of the most terrifying threats that the Dragon Ball multiverse has ever known, Moro made a name for himself with his unique ability to drain entire planets of their energy and life force. The result of doing this made him exceptionally powerful and even made him the first-ever villain to have been shown using Ultra Instinct.
However, the Ultra Instinct and general energy that he gained through his absorption of Merus proved to be too much for the villain, which led to his defeat at the hands of the Z-Fighters. Due to Gogeta’s incredible innate strength and energy, he would likely make short work of the legendary foe.

Gogeta Would Defeat the Main Heroes Quite Convincingly
The Main Heroes of Universe 7

With the sparring session shown in Chapter 103 of the manga, both the late Akira Toriyama and Toyotarou had confirmed that the main heroes of the series, being Goku, Vegeta, Gohan, Broly, and Piccolo, were generally all on the same level of overall power. Although there is some nuance here, they are all more or less equal.
With that in mind, it’s quite clear that a merger of two of these characters would vastly outscale the others in strength, so if Goku and Vegeta were to fuse into Gogeta in the modern setting, they would quite easily defeat Gohan, Broly, and Piccolo, even in their strongest forms. Since Broly was already effortlessly put down by Gogeta’s Super Saiyan Blue state, it’s implied that this is all that is needed for Gohan and Piccolo as well.

Black Frieza Can’t Escape the Strength of Gogeta
Debut Arc: Granolah Arc
Recently, Frieza has proven himself to be the most powerful, non-fused mortal in the entire multiverse who may have reached the strength level of the Gods of Destruction. As such, no mortal in the multiverse can even hope to challenge him, as he managed to defeat Mastered Ultra Instinct Goku and Ultra Ego Vegeta with a single hit.
However, Gogeta is an entirely different story. Not only are the strengths and abilities of Goku and Vegeta added together, but they are also then further multiplied to give birth to the multiverse’s strongest warrior. Along with the fact that he could theoretically use both Ultra Instinct and Ultra Ego, Gogeta can be called the perfect warrior with the offense and defense required to defeat Black Frieza.

Beerus and the Destroyers May Have Met Their Match
Debut Arc: Beerus Saga

At the top of Dragon Ball’s power hierarchy, just below the Angels, there are the Gods of Destruction, who tend to be the most powerful members of a given universe with the strength to erase entire planets, stars, and solar systems with just a little bit of their power, owing to their innate Energy of Destruction and overpowered Hakai ability.
To this day, fans have been waiting to come across a mortal who comfortably exists in the tier of the Destroyer Gods, and although Black Frieza is definitely included, Gogeta may be the only one who surpasses it. The combined strengths of Goku and Vegeta, along with their Divine Techniques, just make Gogeta far too overpowered, so he may just be the closest thing to a rival that Beerus can ever have within the series.
Dragon Ball Super can be streamed on Crunchyroll.
