My Hero Academia has one of the most fascinating anime worlds due to the concept of quirks or meta-abilities unique to each individual. Quirks simply refer to superpowers that reshaped human society, turning what was once considered extraordinary into common. While Quirks come in different forms, characters with powerful meta-abilities tend to receive more recognition in the series.

Unfortunately, those with underrated, weaker quirks are often overlooked not just by the civilians but also by the fans. If only these quirks were given proper training, development, and creative usage, they could rival even the most overpowered quirks in MHA. That said, let’s take a closer look at these weak quirks that would have been OP if they were awakened.

Pop Off (Minoru Mineta)

Minoru Mineta is one of the most unforgettable students in Class 1-A not only because of his timid yet perverted personality but also because of his Pop Off quirk. Known to many as “grape-head,” Mineta can pluck sticky spheres from his head that adhere to almost any surface except himself. Whenever he’s in a sticky situation, he uses his quirk to either immobilize enemies or shield himself.

While it’s difficult to take Mineta’s quirk seriously, it’s easy to see the untapped potential of Pop Off. If it were treated with the same seriousness as other Quirks, Mineta could be very useful in team battles that demand complete crowd control.

It would also be easy for Mineta to reshape the battlefield’s terrain with his spheres. He could also restrain the quirks of his enemies, provided he has accurate placement and timing. If his stamina and endurance were more developed, he could use his quirk for extended periods without hurting himself.

Object Attraction (Inko Midoriya)

My Hero Academia hasn’t really explored Inko Midoriya’s unnamed object attraction quirk that works like a weak telekinetic ability. What we know is that she can pull nearby small objects to her, as if they were magnetically drawn into her hands. Other than that, the series failed to give more details about the quirk’s restrictions.

However, if Inko were given a chance to properly train her quirk, she could evolve her seemingly cute power into a dangerous ability. If you’re a fan of Eleven from Stranger Things, it’s easy to imagine how powerful she could become. She could crush her opponents, restrain them, or worse, target their body parts and kill them instantly with her quirk.

Electrification (Denki Kaminari)

It’s rare for anime characters with electricity-themed abilities to come off as weak, yet My Hero Academia has Denki Kaminari. He was expected to evolve into a highly capable hero, but his quirk held him down over and over again. Too bad many fans still consider Denki a comic-relief character despite the huge potential of his electrification quirk.

With electrification, Denki can unleash electricity from his body to attack and paralyze his enemies. The biggest downside of his quirk is his inability to control it, leaving him vulnerable and useless after exhausting his power. If only Denki could control his electricity, electrification could become a top-tier quirk. Just imagine Denki with unlimited electricity; for sure he’d be giving Thor a run for his money.

Warp Gate (Kurogiri)

Kurogiri gave so much trouble to the heroes and the forces of good with his Warp Gate quirk, which allowed him to transport anything that he wanted to. From the members of the League of Villains to Shigaraki Tomura himself, Kurogiri’s quirk was an essential asset to the villains. This ability is a game-changer, so much so that it easily changes the outcome of any battle by instantly relocating allies and giving them openings to attack.

However, Kurogiri mostly used his Warp Gate quirk to help his allies throughout MHA. In theory, he could open a portal in space or perhaps to another dimension to trap his opponents. He could also use an enemy’s own attacks against them by strategically placing warp gates, making him near-invincible.

Anivoice (Koji Koda)

Koji Koda has one of the most terrifying quirks in MHA if Anivoice were to be awakened. His quirk allows him to command all kinds of animals, from birds and insects to sea creatures, if they are within his range of influence. The series, however, limited the usage of Koji’s quirk by confining him to a support role.

With proper training, exposure, and development, Koji could have been an unstoppable hero. Assembling an army of insects like Shino Aburame from Naruto would be easy for him, allowing him to execute coordinated attacks to defeat opponents. He could also command other animals to scout battlefields, create distractions, or even organize a stampede. With mastery over his Anivoice Quirk, the possibilities are endless.

Invisibility (Toru Hagakure)

Being invisible to the naked eye is Toru Hagakure’s greatest strength. She is perfect for hero missions that require stealth, reconnaissance, or surprise attacks, as her invisibility quirk allows her to move undetected. She could easily sabotage enemy positions, making her the ultimate spy hero in MHA.

However, as fans know, Hagakure’s quirk is more than just invisibility. She can also refract light and use it to her advantage. If she were given a chance to train further, she might have been able to manipulate light completely. We might have seen her creating realistic illusions, forming light-based weapons, or even bending her surroundings to vanish completely. More than anything else, Toru may have gained the ability to activate and deactivate her quirk at will, instead of glitching from time to time.
