Dice’s lead Battlefield producer, David Sirland, has teased that larger maps than the ones seen in the open beta will be available in Battlefield 6. This is great news for Battlefield 6 fans who want more variety when playing the popular first-person shooter.

Battlefield 6 breaks Battlefield 2042 record

Battlefield 6 will be officially released on October 10, 2025, but fans already had a chance to try EA’s shooter during the recent open beta, which lasted from August 9 to 10, and will occur again between August 14 and 17. The first Battlefield 6 Open Beta weekend was a huge hit, becoming the “biggest ever,” according to EA. While no official numbers were shared, Battlefield 6 peaked at over 521,000 concurrent players on Steam.

Players Will be Able to See Bigger Maps in Battlefield 6 ‘Soon’

Something that a few players noticed, however, was that the maps available in the Open Beta were fairly small. So, when a gamer complained about it, Dice’s David Sirland answered that “speed is a factor of map size.” In addition, he said that Dice picked the maps available in the beta to give the “full-octane version” of Battlefield 6 to fans. However, large maps exist, and their tempo “scales accordingly.” Sirland also teased that gamers will get to see these maps “soon.”

Battlefield 6 has four maps available during the open beta: Iberian Offensive, Liberation Peak, Siege of Cairo, and Empire State, with the last one available only in the second weekend of the beta. Five other maps are planned for release: Operation Firestorm, Saints Quarter, New Sobek City, Mirak Valley, and Manhattan Bridge. With Mirak Valley reportedly being Battlefield 6’s biggest map, it’s possible that Sirland was referring to the official release when he said that big areas would be available soon.

While the open beta was a big hit, not everything is working entirely well in Battlefield 6 just yet. For instance, Battlefield 6 players had problems with its anti-cheat software, and had to uninstall Valorant to be able to play. This happened because the anti-cheat systems of both games require kernel-level access and interfere with each other.

Developers are also investigating an unexpectedly fast time-to-death bug in Battlefield 6. The glitch was reported by hundreds of players, who shared videos of their characters being instantly knocked out without indications of being hit or taking damage seconds after being shot in the game. Hopefully, these issues will be corrected once Battlefield 6 is finally released, and gamers will have a smoother experience with both small and large maps in October.
