This Berserk Figure is a Must-Have for Dedicated Fans

A new Berserk figure has been revealed by the team at Good Smile Company, with Void now getting the Pop Up Parade treatment. This figure line, known for maintaining high quality while also being made available at a lower cost, continues to amaze, with new additions from anime, manga, games, and more consistently being released. Void may not be the most popular Berserk character, but fans may not want to miss adding him to their shelf regardless.

Nearly four decades after the first chapter debuted in Monthly Animal House magazine, Berserk continues to inspire readers the world over. Kentaro Miura’s magnum opus is one of the most impactful manga ever created, inspiring countless anime, manga, and video game series and selling over 70 million copies since its release in 1989, putting it on the same level as popular works like Rurouni Kenshin, Fairy Tail, and Gintama. Readers were stunned when Miura suddenly passed away in 2021 at age 54, leaving the series unfinished and the future uncertain. The author’s longtime friend Kouji Mori took control of Guts’ story in 2022, and unfortunately, recent chapters have put Berserk’s future in serious jeopardy. Still, its legacy lives on, and now, one bizarre character has been immortalized.

Good Smile Company Reveals Void Pop Up Parade Figure

Good Smile Company has revealed a new Void figure as part of its Pop Up Parade line, with preorders open until August 26. A member of the God Hand, the character is known for his demonic visage and lack of emotion, along with his philosophical demeanor. The figure, priced at $74.99, stands approximately 270mm (around 10.6 inches) in height, and comes with a base. Those deciding to snag the terrifying piece of merch can expect to see it delivered between July 1 and September 30, 2027.

The impact of Miura’s work can still be seen in countless mediums, with protagonist Guts inspiring beloved characters like Cloud Strife (Final Fantasy 7) and Dante (Devil May Cry), and Berserk’s aesthetic inspiring much of the Dark Souls series. Many manga artists have cited Miura’s work as a major influence, including Kazue Kato (Blue Exorcist), Yana Toboso (Black Butler), and Yuki Tabata (Black Clover).

For anime fans, the 1997 Berserk adaptation, produced by OLM, remains the best way to jump into the series. The more recent 2016 imagining of the series was met with ample criticism for its odd soundtrack, poor use of CGI, and uneven camera work, although these issues became less egregious as the series went on. Regardless of how fans decide to engage with Berserk, the series continues to have a massive impact on popular culture, both in Japan and abroad. Unfortunately, finding the original 1997 adaptation on streaming services may prove a bit more difficult, though fans should be aware that the entire series can now be purchased on Blu-ray for around $60.
