Warhammer 40K Fan Builds Life-Sized Ultramarine

A passionate fan of Warhammer 40K recently showed off their impressive build of a life-sized Ultramarine created entirely through 3D printing. Right alongside the rise of tabletop games like Dungeons and Dragons, Games Workshop’s Warhammer 40K has stood the test of time as one of the most popular wargames in the world. Warhammer 40K has seen praise for the depth of its worldbuilding, with Games Workshop crafting the lore of the ongoing futuristic war between different factions like the Space Marines, Necrons, Orks, and many others. Warhammer 40K’s bevy of iconic factions have also served as an inspiration to legions of fans.

From its roots as one of the first big wargames in the 1980s, Warhammer 40K has evolved as a franchise throughout the decades following its debut. Warhammer 40K’s first edition debuted in September 1987 and has undergone multiple revisions to its rulebook, with the most-recent tenth edition of the game launching in June 2023. The franchise has seen a multitude of spin-offs into different tabletop and board games as well as a wealth of Warhammer 40K video game adaptations, ranging from strategy games and RPGs to hack-and-slash games. Now, one fan has created a life-sized tribute to one of Warhammer’s most beloved factions.

Warhammer 40K Fan 3D Prints Stunning Ultramarine Statue

Reddit user HammerDoris40K showed off their impressive 3D-printed Ultramarine build on the Warhammer 40K subreddit. The images included with the post give a closer look at several different elements of the Ultramarine build, showing off the finer details of the crest on the suit and the backside of the Ultramarine. The user also shares some of their own thoughts on the build process for the Ultramarine, sharing the difficulties of finding the right printing profile, soldering techniques, and assembly, among other critiques. The creative Warhammer fan also shared the extent of their 3D printing operation for the project, revealing in the replies that they own “16 3D printers” that were used.

The impressive Warhammer build saw plenty of fans in the comments praising the stunning statue, alongside some inside jokes about the franchise. The original poster revealed that the Warhammer statue stands at an impressive 8 feet and 5 inches tall, roughly three feet taller than the statue’s creator. One fan humorously commented that the Reddit user would not be able to bring the statue to an official event, joking about its size and Games Workshop typically disallowing 3D-printed Warhammer 40K miniatures at official events. The user also made a joking remark within the post about potentially creating a similar statue of Horus next.

Warhammer 40K Has Grown into a Multimedia Empire

Warhammer 40K’s growth in popularity throughout the decades has seen the property expand far beyond its wargaming roots. The Warhammer franchise looks to have plenty in store for fans throughout the coming year and beyond. Games Workshop currently has three brand-new video games lined up to launch sometime in 2026, including Warhammer 40K: Dawn of War 4 and a Vampire Survivors-style game with Warhammer Survivors. A third Warhammer 40K: Space Marine game was also confirmed by Saber Interactive and Focus Entertainment in early 2025, though a release window was not confirmed at the time. Warhammer 40K continues to grow with each passing year as the franchise brings new and exciting experiences for fans around the world.
