New details about a variety of LEGO Pokemon sets expected to launch in summer 2026 have surfaced online via a reliable source. The latest leak attaches possibly official product names to ten previously reported set numbers, but also includes one detail that may disappoint fans eagerly anticipating LEGO’s 2026 Pokemon line.

LEGO Group and The Pokemon Company announced their first official crossover in March 2025. The initial sets from the collaboration are expected to launch in spring 2026, with additional releases anticipated next summer. Set numbers for nearly two dozen LEGO Pokemon products have previously leaked online, along with limited details. A common trait among the few sets whose descriptions have surfaced in prior months is that they are reportedly fully brick-built and do not include any minifigures—a detail that some fans have labeled as disappointing.

For LEGO fans that don’t want to wait until 2026 to get their hands on new sets, there is an alternative option, though it isn’t cheap.

At Least 10 of LEGO’s 2026 Pokemon Sets Reportedly Won’t Have Any Minifigs

Continuing the trend, a new report from the Brick Tap community now claims to match ten previously leaked LEGO Pokemon set numbers with their corresponding names, while also stating that none of the kits will include minifigures. Among them is the previously leaked “smart” Pikachu LEGO set, said to feature a brick-built Pikachu figure and a Pikachu-shaped house. Identified as set 72164, it is reportedly going to be called Pikachu’s Training House

Pokemon Sets May Spearhead LEGO’s Smart Brick Push in 2026

Pikachu’s Training House is the only one of the newly leaked products reported to include a Smart Brick—a nascent LEGO gadget expected to receive a major push in 2026 following a limited soft launch in the UK earlier this year. However, the other nine kits are reportedly compatible with the upcoming device and may become some of the first globally available LEGO sets in 2026 to support Smart Brick functionality.

What Even Is a LEGO Smart Brick?

As the name suggests, the Smart Brick is a LEGO brick with electronic functionality. It is equipped with multiple sensors that allow it to respond to contextual cues by playing sounds or emitting lighting based on its placement. It is rechargeable via a dedicated hub. Not all future LEGO sets compatible with the Smart Brick will necessarily include the device. In fact, the latest leak indicates that most of the LEGO Pokemon sets planned for summer 2026 may need a separately purchased Smart Brick to unlock their true potential. So far, LEGO has released only three Smart Brick-ready sets, all part of the City Jungle subtheme: 60691 Jungle Explorer Base Camp, 60692 The Lost Crocodile Temple, and 60693 Survivor Island Seaplane. All three debuted as UK exclusives in 2025 and have since been discontinued, but many more are expected to launch in 2026.

Why LEGO May Be Reluctant To Do Pokemon Minifigs

Based on Brick Tap’s latest report and prior leaks, 13 of the 23 currently rumored 2026 LEGO Pokemon sets are now expected not to include any minifigures. LEGO’s apparent reluctance to incorporate minifigs into the upcoming theme likely stems from multiple factors. Among them is scale, which poses a fundamental challenge, as Pokemon designs vary wildly in size, while minifigures adhere to a rigid, human-centric scale. From a practical perspective, the core issue with representing that range is tooling: each unique minifigure mold would require LEGO to create new manufacturing lines or repurpose existing ones, a significant investment for any mass-produced product. Even if profit margins weren’t a factor, large brick-built models allow the Danish toymaker to reinterpret creatures using its established construction language, whereas minifigure-scale builds would demand design compromises that neither The Pokemon Company nor LEGO typically favor.

None of that’s to say that the LEGO Pokemon theme will exclude minifigures entirely, but based on recent rumors, they appear likely to be the exception rather than the norm. At the very least, some human characters from the franchise could be adapted to the LEGO format using existing minifig molds. And if a character like Ash Ketchum were to receive a minifigure, it would be reasonable to expect Pikachu to follow suit. Sure, the latter would require a custom mold, but so did SpongeBob—who did receive a LEGO minifigure back in the day.
