An infant girl was found dead in a duffel bag stuffed in a closet of her family’s Brooklyn apartment — and her mother has been arrested for hiding the body, police said Monday.
Gynae Kendall, 25, was charged Sunday with concealment of a human corpse.
Her month-old daughter, Adonnys Kendall, was found dead in the duffel bag inside the closet when police at 7:30 p.m. Saturday responded to the family’s East Flatbush apartment on Veronica Place near Beverly Road.
Kendall’s mother had called 911 and asked police to check on Kendall, who she was worried about, police sources said.
Kendall has no criminal history and no apparent history of mental illness, police sources said.
Little Adonnys’ cause of death has not yet been determined and it was not immediately clear how long she had been dead.
The infant’s death caught neighbors off guard
“I didn’t even know she had a baby,” said Christopher Kinney, 34, a personal care attendant who lives in the building. “I didn’t know she was pregnant. I was like, ‘What do you mean a baby?’ when cops came to the apartment.”
Kinney said the most he ever heard was loud music coming from the apartment.

A law enforcement source said the city medical examiner’s office found no signs of trauma. Additional testing could take six or more months before a cause of death is determined.
Kendall was awaiting arraignment in Brooklyn Criminal Court Monday.
Neighbor Niaz Femd, who lives on the same floor as the mother, said she rarely saw the woman.
“From October to January, I saw her maybe like two times getting out of the elevator,” Femd said. “Who are we living next to and what is everything coming to?”
