Service on the E, F, M and R lines was suspended in most of Queens for two hours Tuesday evening after a train struck and killed a person on the express track of the Queens Blvd. line.
The fatal incident occurred just before 5:15 p.m., when a passing F train hit an apparent trespasser on the express track at the 63rd Drive-Rego Park station. The person, who has not been identified, was declared dead at the scene.
Responding FDNY crews cut third rail power, effectively halting service along much of the Queens Blvd. line. An MTA spokesman said roughly 200 passengers were evacuated across the local tracks from the F train onto the platform.
The MTA spokesman said power to the rail was restored around 6:45 p.m., and service on the Queens Blvd. line resumed with delays shortly after 7 p.m.
LIRR conductors continued to cross-honor subway fares on Tuesday night for service between Queens and Manhattan.
