A 51-year-old man was killed in a Bronx fire he may have set during a fight with his wife early Saturday, police sources said.
Two women in the 1 a.m. blaze on W. Tremont Ave. near Phelan Place in Morris Heights, ages 60 and 66, were taken to BronxCare Health System with minor injuries.
The fire broke out in an apartment on the top floor of the building and spread to a neighboring apartment, WABC Eyewitness News reported.
Cops were alerted to the incident a few minutes before the early-morning blaze when they received a 911 call from one of the women, who claimed that she was being assaulted, a police source with knowledge of the case said.
The woman claimed she was being attacked by her husband, who was also trying to set their home on fire.
