There’s usually a somewhat rigid meta when it comes to picking the best weapons for boss damage in Destiny 2, but now that the game’s development is officially over, the boss DPS meta should now be relatively stable. If you’re looking for the best weapons to use against bosses in Destiny 2, here are some of the absolute best picks you can get right now.

These weapons (along with most of the ones in our previous boss DPS list for Destiny 2) should offer you the highest damage potential during limited windows of opportunity in boss fights. There’s no particular order as to how this list is arranged, and that’s because the best anti-boss weapon to use usually depends on these two factors:

The boss’ distance from where the team is dealing damage from (weapon range)

Whether the boss is stationary or mobile during damage phase (i.e. the Destiny 2 Nezarec boss fight)

Not every boss can be beaten with a Shotgun or a Sword, and if you’re fighting a boss that moves around a lot, then you might not want to use Rocket Launchers or Grenade Launchers. Still, this list has an answer to every scenario, so take your pick.

Refurbished A499

This Heavy Sniper Rifle from the Renegades expansion proved itself worthy of standing next to Whisper of the Worm as a reliable boss killer. It doesn’t have the best third-column perks out there, but its damage output speaks for itself, especially once you get one with Aggregate Charge.

The Refurbished A499 is a breech-loading rifle that needs to reload after firing a single shot. This is usually terrible for DPS, but the Reload at Range Artifact perk pretty much negates this downside, and even more so if you pair it with Solar Loader mods on your armor. When using this rifle, all you need to do is debuff enemies with abilities (which you should always be doing during damage phases), then shoot until the boss is dead or the phase expires. Simple, but highly effective.

Snapshot Sights + Aggregate Charge is my personal god roll for the Refurbished A499. Since you’re constantly reloading with this thing, having Snapshot Sights to reduce the time you need to aim down sights still results in a very minor DPS boost.

Conspiracy Honed

This is another Legendary Sniper Rifle like the Refurbished A499, except it uses Special Ammo and occupies the Kinetic slot (with it being a Stasis weapon and all). It doesn’t deal as much raw damage as the A499, but for a Legendary weapon, it’s quite impressive.

The best Conspiracy Honed roll for boss DPS includes Vorpal Weapon and Bait and Switch. Since this weapon drops from the Equilibrium dungeon in Destiny 2, it also comes with the Imperial Allegiance Origin Trait, which increases the weapon’s damage while at high heat. You can squeeze out even more damage per shot with the Overclocked Heatsink battery perk.

Don’t forget to use an Artifact with Sniper’s Meditation to max out your damage when using this weapon type.

Still Hunt

Still Hunt is an Exotic Sniper Rifle that can fire Golden Gun shots. Yes, it’s as cool as it sounds, and when it comes to dealing with bosses, it is still pretty good. The Golden Gun shots fired by Still Hunt deal significantly more damage, and you charge up these super shots by either picking up Orbs of Power or hitting Precision hits.

This Exotic Sniper Rifle works best in the hands of Hunters, as its Golden Gun mode does get affected by the Celestial Nighthawk Exotic Helmet.

Anarchy

Anarchy got a massive buff in the Monument of Triumph update. Its traps now deal 30% more damage while active, they explode for double damage, and they last longer too, making this Exotic weapon an excellent complement for Legendary weapons like Conspiracy Honed.

If you don’t have Anarchy yet, you can buy it from the Exotic Archive at the Tower, next to the Vault and Seasonal Archive kiosks. You’ll need Spoils of Conquest for it, though, which you can get by playing raids.

Truth

Like Anarchy, Truth got a significant buff to its damage output. Hitting all three rockets in a mag now grants your next Truth magazine to have dramatically increased fire rate, stability, and tracking strength, and the rockets turn into cluster bombs too. If you have the catalyst for this weapon, it gets the Reaper’s Tithe perk, which gives the gun up to 40% bonus damage based on how many simultaneous final blows you score. To top all of that off, hitting all of your rockets in a magazine will also return one ammo to the gun’s reserves. Neat.

Truth is arguably the best Exotic Rocket Launcher for boss damage in Destiny 2 now. You can get it from the Exotic Archive Kiosk at the Tower, while the Truth Catalyst can be obtained as a random drop from Vanguard/Crucible activities.

Legendary Rocket Launchers

Destiny 2 Cold Comfort stats

By themselves, Legendary Rocket Launchers won’t be able to match the raw DPS output of Truth, but if you pair them with the Wolfpack Rounds buff provided by Gjallarhorn, they still end up being fantastic options for boss damage in Destiny 2. Some standout Rocket Launchers include:

Apex Predator and Cold Comfort with Reconstruction and Bait and Switch are swap-based loadouts on long DPS phases.

Cold Comfort and Faith-Keeper with Clown Cartridge and Bipod are great if you just want to dump rockets at a boss’ face during the entire damage phase.

Hezen Vengeance with Envious Arsenal and Bait and Switch is another excellent contender if you’re using a swap loadout.

Apex Predator and Hezen Vengeance drop from the Last Wish and Vault of Glass raids respectively, while Cold Comfort is from the Ghosts of the Deep Dungeon. You can get Faith-Keeper from the Encore Pinnacle mission, but you need to enable the Classic Collector modifier.

Finality’s Augur

Destiny 2 Finality's Augur stats

Finality’s Augur is a Heavy Linear Fusion Rifle that can create turrets that fire at enemies. The turret itself deals good damage, but if you shoot your target with Finality’s Augur, any active turret will prioritize hitting the enemy you just hit, and they’ll deal even more damage too. With its catalyst, Finality’s Augur gains the Bait and Switch perk, which will further increase its damage output by 30%.

This weapon pairs nicely with Special Ammo weapons that also have Bait and Switch, like the aforementioned Consipracy Honed. Rocket Pulse Rifles might still be worth using with Finality’s Augur, but I haven’t done any testing yet to confirm this. You can get this weapon by farming the Sundered Doctrine dungeon.

One Thousand Voices

one thousand voices

One Thousand Voices might just be the absolute best Heavy weapon for boss damage in Destiny 2. The catalyst for this weapon pretty much doubles its damage output, and if you combine it with the Particle Reconstruction Artifact mod, you’re getting even more damage plus an auto-reload effect, cranking up the 1K Voices’ DPS even further. It’s hard to describe with words just how strong One Thousand Voices is, and frankly, it’s still pretty good even if you don’t have the catalyst.

You can get One Thousand Voices in Destiny 2 by farming the final encounter of the Last Wish raid. Its catalyst also drops from there, but you can also try farming Morgeth in the Pantheon for it.

Divinity

Destiny 2 Divinity stats

Divinity isn’t meant for dealing damage like all the other weapons on this list. Instead, it makes dealing damage easier by creating a big dome that players can shoot to deal more damage to enemies. Since the dome is so big, it makes hitting bosses with Precision weapons like Sniper Rifles and Linear Fusion Rifles much easier, making damage phases less stressful and reducing the odds of players missing their shots.

The Monument of Triumph update buffed Divinity by increasing the damage of its Penance trait, as well as by letting it create its weakspot domes slightly faster. If you’re the dedicated Divinity guy in the team, you won’t deal as much damage as everyone else, but your friends will thank you for effort.

You can get Divinity by completing a lengthy process involving the Garden of Salvation raid.
