Should You Talk to the Bootblack With Regis in Pomp and Strange Circumstance?

While Geralt is being dressed for the ceremony, Regis expresses deep concern regarding the potential identity of the fifth victim that Dettlaff was supposed to kill for Syanna. Geralt is then presented with a choice to visit the Bootblack for more answers. If you want the good ending, you should say: “You’re right. Need to talk to the Bootblack. Let’s go.”

When you arrive, the Bootblack will inform you of a meeting location of beggars who provide him with letters that have the names of Dettlaff’s targets. You will then need to travel with Regis to a nearby shelter, where you will need to fight two bandits to help an old man.

After helping the old man, you can wait around for the beggars to arrive. Upon questioning the beggars, reply with “Give me that letter” to reveal the identity of the fifth victim, who is none other than Syanna’s sister, Anna Henrietta, the Duchess!

What to Say to Syanna in Pomp and Strange Circumstance

Instead of speaking with Damien, head to the Beauclair Palace and enter Syanna’s tower. It doesn’t matter what you say to the guard, but it’s best to just say “Wanna talk to her, plain and simple” to avoid causing chaos about a potential assassination attempt on the Duchess.

When you find Syanna, you will need to tell her, “Cause she turned her back on you, forgot about you,” and then “Ever thought to forgive her?” These are the only two dialogue options that matter. If you fail to say these things to Syanna, then you will have locked yourself into the bad ending.

Should You Tell Damien and the Duchess About the Fifth Victim in Pomp and Strange Circumstance?

When you arrive at the ceremony, you will first speak with Damien. There is no point in telling Damien who the fifth victim was supposed to be, as this doesn’t change the outcome of the ending. This also applies to the Duchess, so you might as well tell her that Geralt is “truly honored” for the ceremony.

Geralt will then help Anna Henrietta during Syanna’s trial, but your dialogue here does not matter. The two sisters will hug and reconcile in front of the court. However, if you got the bad ending, Syanna will kill Anna, and Damien will kill Syanna, resulting in the deaths of both sisters. To prevent the bad ending, make sure you did the following:

Read the governess’ journal in “The Night of Long Fangs”

Complete “Beyond Hill and Dale”

Listen to Syanna’s story during “Beyond Hill and Dale”

Help Regis investigate the fifth victim.

Use the correct dialogue options when questioning Syanna about the fifth victim.

Hunting Mandrakes

Regardless of the fates of the sisters, Geralt will meet with Regis at the Mere-Lachaiselongue Cemetery. It’s here that Regis will give Geralt the Gloves and Mask for picking Mandrakes, which you need to equip in your Quest Items inventory, as Mandrakes are toxic and will kill you if you pick them up without them.

After picking up a few Mandrake Roots, you will need to use your Witcher Senses to find Regis, only to find him fighting Bruxa vampires. You need to help him kill the vampires, and then the two of you will share a drink. Regis will ask what Geralt will do with Corvo Bianco, and whether he will retire, but your dialogue here is personal to you and doesn’t matter.
