A man crossing a Manhattan street was fatally struck by an MTA bus Monday morning, police said.
The victim was crossing Third Ave. outside of the crosswalk near E. 28th St. in Kips Bay when he was hit by an M101 bus headed uptown at about 5:30 a.m., cops said.
Medics rushed the pedestrian to Bellevue Hospital, but he could not be saved. Cops were working to determine the identity of the victim, believed to be in his 30s.
The 41-year-old bus driver remained at the scene and spoke to investigators. He was not immediately charged as cops continue to investigate.
It was the second time someone was fatally struck by an MTA bus in less than a week.
A 70-year-old man died when the Q52 accordion bus he was waiting for hit him after he stumbled into the roadway trying to get up from his walker near Hoffman Drive and Woodhaven Blvd. in Elmhurst, Queens, at about 2 p.m. Friday, cops said.
