The Hito Hito no Mi is one of the most dangerous Devil Fruits to exist in One Piece. This Devil Fruit exists in various forms and was introduced right at the beginning of the series. Over the years, it has grown even more important, thanks to its various powerful forms. The Hito Hito no Mi doesn’t just have one user. The fact that it has various iterations means that multiple users exist, and all of them are special in their own way, wielding unique abilities that make them phenomenal fighters.

Chopper

Devil Fruit: Hito Hito no Mi

Chopper is the doctor of the Straw Hat Pirates and one of the most important characters in the overarching story of One Piece. He ate the Hito Hito no Mi in the Drum Kingdom when he was very young. This gave Chopper the ability to transform into a human and assume the form of a human reindeer hybrid. Initially, Chopper was discriminated against due to his appearance, but he was accepted by Hiruluk, and later on raised by Kureha. Chopper eventually joined the Straw Hat Pirates, where he showed his true strength as a pirate.

Thanks to the power of the Hito Hito no Mi, Chopper can tap into various Zoan transformations, each of which has a unique ability attached to it. By consuming the power of the Rumble Balls, Chopper can even transform into a giant version of himself called Monster Point, the strength of which is such that even the might of the CP9 was useless against it. Chopper was even able to hold his own against Queen the Plague using the power of the Monster Point. Right now, he can make use of the Monster Point for 30 minutes in combat, and it certainly makes him incredibly dangerous. His powers are surely going to grow even further, and the true nature of his Hito Hito no Mi remains to be seen.

Onimaru

Devil Fruit: Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Onyudo

Onimaru is the loyal fox of Shimotsuki Ushimaru, revealed to the fans in the Wano Country Arc. Around 20 years ago, Shimotsuki Ushimaru was imprisoned in Wano. Ever since then, his loyal fox Onimaru stood guard in Ringo, trying to prepare and protect weapons for the fateful day when a battle would be launched against Kaido.

Onimaru ate the Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Onyudo at some point. This Devil Fruit gave him the ability to transform into a monk with great fighting capabilities. Onimaru’s fighting capabilities rose to such a level that he was able to hold his own against two-sword style Zoro and even overwhelm him in combat at certain instances. While he might not be the strongest character in the series, his overall powers are certainly immense. His Devil Fruit even gives him the capabilities to think and talk, and his fighting powers are boosted to a whole new level. Unfortunately, this Devil Fruit has not awakened yet, which means its true powers remain hidden, but it is still a wonderful Devil Fruit nonetheless.

Sengoku

Devil Fruit: Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Daibutsu

The former Fleet Admiral of the Navy, Sengoku is a monster in combat, and the fact that he held such a high rank within the ranks of the Marines goes to show it. Sengoku is a user of the Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Daibutsu, and this fruit allows him to transform into a giant golden Buddha with tremendous physical strength. His main ability is to fire off powerful shockwaves from the palms of his hands, which he utilized on multiple occasions during the Paramount War arc, but back then it wasn’t nearly as impressive.

Still, Sengoku’s Mythical Zoan Devil Fruit is said to be incredibly dangerous. The fact that he can transform into a Buddha also directly connects to the fact that he is known as Sengoku the Wise. His overall powers are incredibly immense, and he was even able to hold his own against Blackbeard in combat. Unfortunately, his true capabilities remain unknown to this day, but it goes without saying that Sengoku is a force to be reckoned with.

Monkey D. Luffy

Devil Fruit: Hito Hito no Mi: Model: Nika

The protagonist of the series, Monkey D. Luffy is also a user of a Hito Hito no Mi variant. Initially, his Devil Fruit was revealed to be named Gomu Gomu no Mi, but in the Wano Country Arc, the true nature of this Devil Fruit was finally shown. After Luffy died in battle against Kaido, it was time for his fruit to finally awaken. The Five Elders revealed to the fans that Luffy’s real Devil Fruit was the Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Nika, and that it is a godly power that turns the user into the Warrior of Liberation.

Luffy possesses a rubbery body and fights with immense freedom. Most of all, he can do anything he wishes, limited only by his imagination. Luffy can make the impossible possible and fights against oppression of all sorts. He is easily one of the most powerful characters in the entire series, and his awakening pushed him to a level where he was even able to overwhelm Kaido in battle and defeat him. In the final saga, Luffy has grown even stronger than ever before, especially by combining high-level Haki with his already dangerous Gear 5.

Joy Boy

Devil Fruit: Hito Hito no Mi: Model: Nika

Undoubtedly, the strongest user of the Hito Hito no Mi in One Piece is none other than Joy Boy. Just like Luffy, Joy Boy had the power of the Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Nika, and given that he existed in the Void Century, he ate this Devil Fruit centuries ago. This fruit was awakened by Joy Boy, clearly evident from the fact that he could tap into the power of Gear 5 at will.

Joy Boy was incredibly powerful, as is evident from his Haki, which was able to cause immense pain to Imu as well. On top of that, Joy Boy’s usage of the Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Nika was likely far more refined than that of Luffy, given that he commanded this power for a very long time. He was easily one of the strongest characters in the entire series, and more information about him will be revealed to the fans in the Final Saga as the past is explored. After his death, which came at the hands of the 20 Kings, his Devil Fruit returned to circulation and protected itself from the World Government. Eventually, it found its way to Luffy, who ended up consuming it, becoming the next Joy Boy.
