Weapons of Sorrow are rather powerful (and lore-heavy), but that’s not the main reason you’ll want to collect them. Weapons of Sorrow are needed for Destiny 2’s secret Exotic Mission, Oblation: Bloodlines, for which we have a complete guide for unlocking that you can find below.
Regardless, we’ve also tagged every Weapon of Sorrow in Destiny 2 in this guide and shown you how to get them in case you’re missing one, some, or all, so you can get the weapon you need to start unlocking the final Exotic Mission in Destiny 2!

Weapon of Sorrow #1: Thorn
Thorn is the easiest Weapon of Sorrow to get, as you just need to head to the Monuments to Lost Light, which is the golden kiosk by the vaults in the Tower. Here, you can enter the Light and Dark Saga Exotics tab and find Thorn in the Forsaken Exotics for x1 Exotic Cipher and 125,000 Glimmer.
Weapon of Sorrow #2: Osteo Striga
While a bit of a grind, Osteo Striga is guaranteed, and not a random RNG drop like the final two Weapons of Sorrow. To get Osteo Striga, you’re going to need to have The Witch Queen expansion, and then you’re going to have to complete the campaign to unlock the Relic in the Enclave.
After, you can head to the Relic and click “Shape”, where in the Submachine Gun tab, you’ll find the Osteo Striga, which can now be crafted.
Weapon of Sorrow #3: Touch of Malice
The Touch of Malice is an RNG Exotic that will drop after you defeat Oryx, the Taken King, at the last encounter in the King’s Fall raid. King’s Fall is fun, and not too difficult if you can assemble a competent team of 6 Guardians. However, it’s still a Raid, and the Touch of Malice is a reward where luck must be on your side to get it.
Weapon of Sorrow #4: Necrochasm
Necrochasm is also a Raid-exclusive Exotic, and it can only be obtained by those who beat Crota’s End. However, it’s not a given reward, and instead, you’ll be given the “Bottomless Pit” quest. Upon completing this quest (which requires multiple runs of Crota’s End), you’ll be given Necrochasm.
Alternatively, you can hope RNG is on your side, as you might get it for killing Crota at the end of the Raid! Crota’s End is arguably the easiest Raid, but it’s still going to require you to assemble a decent team that knows the mechanics and can farm Crota effectively.
What Are Weapons of Sorrow in Destiny 2?
Weapons of Sorrow are those that have been modified by Hive magic, which is why you might recognize a theme with the weapon shown above. All of them have Hive-like designs, and they all have similar effects in how their bullets can poison those shot by them, like a curse of Hive magic.
