PUBG: Battlegrounds has finally added the long-awaited prop hunt mode, but it will only be available for a limited period. PUBG made its debut all the way back in 2017 as PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, and it is considered to be one of the most successful battle royale games with over 75 million copies sold worldwide. Its core gameplay is simple, as players must drop onto an island and do whatever it takes to outlast one another to claim victory.

The battle royale genre is no stranger to fierce competition, as it has titles like Fortnite and Call of Duty: Warzone dominating the scene. Despite this, PUBG has held its ground, largely thanks to the game’s development team, which has kept it fresh through consistent updates and new content. Recently, the developers have teased a PUBG x Stellar Blade crossover, promising to bring the iconic character Eve into the fold. With that steady momentum around the game, the developers are now rolling out the much-requested prop hunt mode, though it comes with a catch.

Prop Hunt Mode is Finally Here in PUBG

PUBG prop hunt mode is now live, available to players from March 31 to April 7. In this limited-time mode, players can become Hunters and Props in a hide-and-seek match. The main goal for Hunters is to track down and eliminate all players disguised as Props before time runs out. On the other hand, Props must do everything in their power to avoid being detected. At the start of every round, players will be asked to choose their preferred role, and each game will host a total of 12 players. Out of these, 9 take on the role of Props, and the remaining 3 play as Hunters.

Each prop hunt round will follow a structured format. In the preparation phase, Props spawn across the map with a temporary movement boost. This is to give them time to disguise themselves and figure out their hiding spot. Hunters need to wait in a designated zone with restricted vision of the surrounding area. Once the round kicks off, hunters scour the map in search of their targets, though firing at anything other than a Prop will cost them HP. To level the playing field, Props can use a variety of abilities, including a Stun-Gun, Decoy, Prop Switch, and more, to throw Hunters off their trail. As each round draws to a close, Fever Time activates, which will arm Hunters with additional weapons while removing any penalties for misfiring. The mode is available to enjoy across several maps in the game, such as Miramar, Rono, and Vikendi. With this addition, PUBG has joined the list of games featuring a prop hunt mode.

Players on Reddit and Twitter have welcomed the addition of the limited-time mode into the game. However, many fans have voiced their desire to see it as a permanent feature rather than a temporary one. The mode has drawn a wave of returning players eager to jump back into one of the best battle royale games, with fans appreciating the developer’s continued commitment to keeping the experience fresh.

However, not everything in the PUBG universe is doing great. The franchise’s spin-off, Blindspot, wasn’t able to find a player base and struggled since its launch. Fans bashed the title for its unoriginal gameplay loop, bugs, glitches, and an underwhelming experience. As a result, Team ARC made the decision to take PUBG: Blindspot offline on March 30, 2026. The shutdown has raised concerns within the community regarding the future of another spin-off, PUBG: Black Budget, which is also in development. Only time will tell what Krafton has planned for the franchise going forward.
