After the Angels and Zeno, the Omni-King himself, Beerus is easily the most powerful God in Dragon Ball Super. Introduced as Universe 7’s God of Destruction in Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods all the way back in 2013, Goku still hasn’t surpassed Beerus. Goku and Vegeta have gotten closer to finally rivaling the God of Destruction, but Beerus remains virtually untouchable and anytime the Saiyans catch up, it’s revealed Beerus is much stronger than anyone realized.
It goes without saying, but anytime Beerus battles someone in Dragon Ball Super, it’s a curb-stomp in his favor. If Beerus has to put in any effort whatsoever, it’s always because he’s actually holding back and using a lower tier of power in order to give himself an interesting fight. Every now and again, though, Beerus will run into somebody strong enough to make him think twice and actually use his full power. Beerus isn’t the only all-powerful God in the multiverse, after all.

Ultimate Gohan Got the Ultimate Beat Down in Battle of Gods
The series doesn’t always acknowledge it, but Gohan was the strongest unfused character at the end of Dragon Ball Z. Only Buutenks and Vegito surpassed Ultimate Gohan. The fact Beerus so effortlessly defeats Ultimate Gohan in Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods really sells just how powerful the God of Destruction is. Gohan at least lasted a few minutes against Buutenks. Beerus knocks him out in a few short seconds.
Beerus also takes out Super Saiyan 3 Gotenks and Fat Buu during this quick bout. Considering how strong Gohan is supposed to be after the Buu Saga, it’s a shame Battle of Gods doesn’t give him a better fight to go out on. If nothing else, Gohan is now the strongest Z-Fighter after unlocking Beast in Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero. In the manga, Whis even suggests Gohan as a possible candidate to replace Beerus as Universe 7’s God of Destruction. Beerus VS Gohan wouldn’t go down as fast now that the latter has Beast.

Zamasu Took a Hakai to the Face
It’s almost unfair to call Zamasu one of Beerus’ opponents, considering he never even got the chance to get a shot in. Beerus immediately catches Zamasu’s strike and erases him from existence with a Hakai. It takes a split-second for the technique to activate, but once it does, Zamasu is left in intense agony as his body slowly disintegrates. There was no way a Supreme Kai was ever going to stand a chance against a God of Destruction, let alone the strongest.
That said, Zamasu is said to be exceptionally strong among his fellow Kais, and easily knocks out Shin in the Dragon Ball Super manga. Manga Goku does say that Future Zamasu is weaker than Future Trunks, so he’s likely no stronger than the main cast by the end of the Majin Buu Saga. The real muscle in Zamasu’s operation is Goku Black, who never existed in the main timeline since Beerus preemptively Hakai’d Zamasu.

Super Saiyan God Goku Gave Beerus His First Good Fight in Years
Super Saiyan God Goku VS Beerus remains one of the best God fights in Dragon Ball. Super Saiyan God finally gives Goku a real edge over Beerus (though, unbeknownst to him, Beerus is barely using his full power). This first fight set the bar for how much stronger Goku would need to get to catch up to Beerus. Super Saiyan God gave Beerus a great fight, but only because the Destroyer was humoring Goku.
The Dragon Ball Super anime and manga actually made Beerus much stronger. In the original movie, he at least uses 70% of his full power versus Goku. Obviously, that scaling doesn’t track anymore, otherwise Goku and Vegeta would have surpassed Beerus aged ago. Now that Goku has mastered Perfected Ultra Instinct and fought an opponent who also knows Ultra Instinct, his rematch with Beerus is bound to go down very differently.

Super Saiyan Blue Evolved Vegeta Earned the Honor of Becoming Beerus’ Disciple
Surpassing Beerus has been a major goal for Goku and Vegeta since the very start of Dragon Ball Super, and every arc, they get a little closer. The Granolah the Survivor Saga decided to check in on Vegeta’s progress by pitting him against the God of Destruction. Super Saiyan Blue Evolved Vegeta actually performs fairly well against Beerus, but is ultimately overwhelmed as the battle becomes a lesson in how to use Destructive energy.
More importantly, Beerus has become so impressed with Vegeta’s growth as a fighter, that he decides to take him on as his personal disciple while Goku studies under Whis. Beerus even gifts Vegeta a God of Destruction earring, which channels Destructive Ki, triggering his Ultra Ego transformation later in the Granolah arc. The next time Vegeta and Beerus fight, the Prince of All Saiyans won’t be going down so easy.

Champa & Beerus Have Been Fighting Their Whole Life
Beerus and Champa are twin brothers who govern Universes 7 and 6, respectively, both serving as twin universes. Champa’s introduction made it seem like the universe twin concept would be far more important to Dragon Ball Super than it ended up being, but that’s probably for the best in terms of cast diversity. Although Vados boasts about Champa’s power, everything seems to indicate that Beerus is the far better and stronger fighter.
Beerus and Champa have been fighting their entire lives in universe-shaking battles which, realistically, Beerus would have won more often than not. Beerus is stronger, in better shape, faster, and can use Ultra Instinct. Champa is also shown to be a mid-tier Destroyer during the manga’s God of Destruction battle royale in the Universe Survival Saga. At this point, even Ultra Instinct Goku and Ultra Ego Vegeta have surpassed Champa.

Belmod Had a Sneak Attack Ready for Beerus
In the Dragon Ball Super manga, the Zeno Exhibition Match is a battle royale between all of the Gods of Destruction rather than a 3v3 tournament between Universe 7 and Universe 9’s Trio De Dangers. Toyotarou presents an interesting, if unsurprising, hierarchy for the Destroyers: Beerus and Quitela are the two strongest, Belmod is the third-strongest, and everyone else falls below them – which consequentially means every God of Destruction except Beerus and Quitela is weaker than every villain introduced after Jiren.
Even though Belmod isn’t as strong as Beerus, he’s a crafty fighter. Belmod pretends to be eliminated early in the tournament, so that he can watch Beerus and Quitela wear each other down. Up until the Grand Priest called off the fighting on Zeno’s behalf, Belmod was lying in wait, ready to take out whoever won Beerus and Quitela’s match. At such a high level of power, skill and strategy are the best way to stay in the fight.

Quitela is Beerus’ Greatest Rival
Quitela is to Beerus what Vegeta is to Goku. The duo have a long-standing rivalry that one seems to care about a bit more than the other, but it’s still very much fierce. In the Dragon Ball Super manga, it’s revealed that Beerus actually lost an arm-wrestling match to Quitela, implying that the God of Destruction of Universe 4 is the physically stronger of the two. That said, Beerus performs notably better during the Zeno Exhibition Match.
Beerus’ use of Ultra Instinct in the God of Destruction battle royale allows him to dodge and counter every attack thrown his way, slowly eliminating each Destroyer until the one only’s left fighting are himself and Quitela. Beerus is also implied to be the greatest master and user of Hakai in the series, so even if he’s not as physically tough as Quitela, he’s much more powerful where it counts.
1
Whis is the Only Character Beerus Has Ever Lost To
Although their fight has never been depicted in either the Dragon Ball Super anime or the manga, Beerus confirmed early on in the series that Whis actually beat him in a fight. This makes perfect sense since Whis is also Beerus’ martial arts master and Angel attendant. It stands to reason that Whis would need to test Beerus’ full power. Beerus clearly holds Whis in high esteem and respects his power, so it’s safe to say the Angel ran circles around Beerus.
In the Dragon Ball Super manga, it’s also revealed that Whis successfully taught Beerus how to use Ultra Instinct, much like how he helped teach Goku. The Angles are in their own tier of strength no one else can reach, not even the Gods of Destruction, so it’s unlikely Beerus will ever get strong enough to beat Whis in a rematch. Not that he’d care to – Beerus’ real rivals these days are Goku and Vegeta, who are slowly but surely finally catching up to the Destroyer.
