Best SMGs in COD MW3 (Meta SMG Tier List)

Static-HV

Compact SMG with a whopping 50 rounds by default. Great range and a good TTK. Perfect for close to medium range gunfights.

Superi 45

The only SMG that is somewhat viable well past 25 meters. It has excellent range and is the go-to for movement demons, as players can sacrifice a bit of range and go all out with movement benefits when selecting the right attachments.

Striker

Essentially, the UMP-45. It boasts some good range and is fairly easy to control. Easily one of the more versatile SMGs in the game.

BAS-P

Boasts an excellent fire rate and some decent range to boot. Fairly easy to control, has great iron sights, and has a respectable TTK.

Lachmann Shroud

Excellent SMG but only when making use of the JAK Decimator Conversion. Converts the weapon into a full-auto weapon, and comes with the benefit of an integrated suppressor and Subsonic ammunition.

Lachmann Sub

Essentially, an MP5 and is almost the same as the Lachmann Shroud, this time with better damage, poorer range, and is full-auto by default. It’s an excellent all-rounder that all players can pick up and use fairly easily.

ISO 9mm

Excellent close range SMG. Kills fast, is relatively stable compared to other high RPM options, and is generally a great SMG for running and gunning with.

RAM-9

Boasts a high fire rate, great TTK, and one of the highest levels of base mobility in the SMG category. Excellent close-range Sub with a bit of vertical kick to get a handle on.

FJX Horus

Relatively poor range and control, but boasts a blistering fire rate for one of the quickest TTKs in the game. Excellent for strictly close-range engagements.

Striker 9

Pretty much the Striker but with a higher fire rate, less damage, and better mobility plus handling. Once you tone down its recoil, it is an excellent pick.

VEL 46

Fairly low recoil compact SMG that actually has some decent range despite what the stats say. Solid TTK, excellent level of handling, and an all round great SMG.

HRM-9

Boasts a great TTK, a fast fire rate, and a good level of handling. Tone down its recoil, notably the horizontal recoil, and it’s a great SMG for close and medium range.

AMR9

A compact SMG that is relatively versatile at close and medium range gunfights. Boasts great damage, with a recoil pattern that is mostly just vertical kick.

ISO 45

Great for strictly close-range gunfights. It sports a blistering fire rate and a rapid TTK, but suffers from a lot of recoil that results in poor accuracy at medium range.

PDSW 528

Fairly low recoil SMG that boasts 50 rounds by default. The kill time is relatively on par with other meta options, and is a perfectly viable SMG in the meta.

WSP-9

Harder hitting SMG with a lower on average fire rate. Perfectly viable and has good damage range.

Rival-9

Boasts a great level of DPS and excellent TTK, along with being rather versatile for close and medium-range gunfights. It does suffer from some awkward horizontal recoil, though.

Fennec 45

Relatively low damage range but a decent TTK at 10 meters. Great for close-range gunfights, but not exactly the highest ranking SMG.

Vaznev-9k

Relatively low recoil that actually can be used at medium range. It’s a viable pick, but not exactly a meta choice.

WSP Swarm

It has poor damage range, exceedingly high vertical recoil, but a rapid fire rate that offers a high TTK. It also comes with an Akimbo Conversion Kit to run the weapon in Dual Wield.

Minibak

The only main standout perk of the Minibak is its large magazine. Boasts 64 rounds by default. It’s not a competitive choice, but it can be used to some success.

MX9

Relatively poor TTK and sports a small magazine by default. Fails to rank as a meta contender.

FSS Hurricane

Boasts a large magazine and has relatively low recoil. It can be used to some success at medium range, but is not exactly a competitive option.
