“Big Brother” contestant Mickey Lee died on Christmas Day following a “series of cardiac arrests.” She was 35.
The event curator’s family announced her death on Friday morning, just days after a GoFundMe was established to help offset expenses amid Lee’s “sudden health crisis.”
“With profound sadness, the family of Mickey Lee announces her transition on Christmas in the early evening,” read her family’s statement, signed by “family and friends of Mickey C Lee.”
“Mickey captured the hearts of audiences nationwide through her appearance on ‘Big Brother,’ where her authenticity, strength and spirit left a lasting impression on fans and fellow cast members alike,” her loved ones wrote. “She will be remembered for the joy she brought into the lives of so many and for the genuine connections she formed both on and off screen.”
Lee’s family and friends thanked “everyone who has offered prayers, love and support during this incredibly difficult time” and promised to share details for memorial services and funeral arrangements “at a later date.”
“As the family mourns this tremendous loss, they respectfully request privacy during this critical time of bereavement,” the statement reads. “Mickey’s light, legacy and impact will never be forgotten.”
The “Support Mickey’s Medical Journey” fundraiser, set up on Dec. 22, shed more light on Lee’s health in recent days.
Lee — who competed on this summer’s season of the CBS reality hit, with the finale airing in late September — was in the ICU “in critical but stable condition” following a recent “series of cardiac arrests,” according to her loved ones.
“This sudden health crisis has left Mickey and her family facing enormous emotional and financial strain from mounting hospital bills to ongoing care and recovery costs,” reads the fundraiser.
Lee’s family earlier this week requested a “pause” in communication amid the “critical time.” Lee herself last posted on Instagram on Dec. 17.

CBS did not immediately respond to the Daily News’ request for comment, though “Big Brother” host Julie Chen Moonves offered additional insight into Lee’s health in a tribute on Instagram.
“Two months ago I interviewed Mickey Lee on ‘God 101.’ That’s when she revealed to me that she was born with a hole in her heart, and as an adult she survived an ATV accident that should have killed her, but God kept her alive. Last night God brought her home,” Chen Moonves wrote. “Rest In Peace dear Mickey. I will see you again on the other side in eternity. I pray the good Lord comforts and heals your family and loved ones as we grieve your passing. Amen.”
“Big Brother” alum Rachel Reilly thanked Lee “for bringing your light to the world. You will be missed.”
Season 25’s Mecole Hayes said she was “incredibly sad for this unfortunate loss. Rest peacefully beautiful.”
Tai Lowry, of Peacock’s “Destination X” competition series, said her “heart just sank” upon learning the news, adding she’d recently met Lee “and was drawn to her beautiful spirit and infectious energy.”
