The season of reveals was filled with awesome surprises, and some of the biggest names in the FPS world received a wave of announcements that will look to keep the content train flowing long after launch. Many of these DLC packs and updates were already teased or suspected to be on the way, but others came out of nowhere, reigniting the fanbases and ushering in a whole new level of hype that may very well match the heights of the actual launch.

So, it doesn’t matter what kind of FPS fan you are, the next few months promise to bring plenty of action, fun, and most importantly, enough bullets to take down a whole army.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Cost of Hope
Deep In The Heart Of The Zone
Details:
The story extends deep into the nuclear power plant
New weapons, gear, and enemies to encounter
Expected in Summer 2026
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2’s first major expansion, Cost of Hope, looks to bring a sizable chunk of content to an already expansive game, sending you directly into the Chornobyl reactor site and building on the existing story rather than sidelining it. A darker, more sinister journey into the depths, you will come face to face with new horrors never before seen, but thankfully, there will be a few new tools added to your arsenal as well to help combat the threats underground.
It seems like a lot of emphasis is being placed on your role in the world and how your choices affect certain factions and the outcomes of each individual person encountered. The zone hence becomes a living, breathing environment shaped by grey decisions, and I, for one, am just excited to experience more of the atmosphere and tension that the series has become so well known for.

As if The Dark Ages weren’t enough torment, it seems we will be once again stepping into the shoes of the Slayer and his endless battle against the forces of hell. This time around, we will be diving directly into the inner psyche of the Slayer, faced with more fearsome foes and mysteries that, like always, can only be cleared with a hefty set of arms and an iron will.

10 Greatest FPS Games With Classes, Ranked
Classes are great for playing around with team comps in FPS games. Here are games that delivered quality class systems.
Alongside new levels and demons, we are going to be treated to a whole new weapon in the form of a Chain Spear, which promises to deliver a rewarding and satisfying combat experience for even the most seasoned players. As a big boomer shooter fan, I cannot wait for more DOOM, and if it is as good as the devs say it is, then we may have a contender for the best DLC of the year.
DayZ Badlands
The Infected Spread Far And Wide
Details:
Whole new, larger map to explore
Region-specific items and weapons
Expected by the end of 2026
DayZ might have been around for over a decade, but that hasn’t stopped it from getting new updates and continuing to dominate the shooter world. Badlands brings with it a completely different biome with huge stretches of desert and sand replacing the traditional forests, and as the largest official one yet, it looks to be an incredibly unique one to play on for players of all kinds.
There is a lot of attention to detail in terms of the structures and the environments, from the crumbling cities to the foliage that surrounds them, and those factors combined should make it one of the more immersive and intense experiences that the game has to offer. I have been a fan of DayZ since the early days, and I am always on the lookout for reasons to jump back in, so when Badlands drops, I will be exploring the wasteland along with thousands of other hungry survivors.
Abiotic Factor – Entropic Break
Not Exactly The Ideal Island Getaway
Details:
Oceanic islands and additional secrets beneath the surface
Additional story details, among other content
Expected in the final few months of 2026
Abiotic Factor has quickly risen to the top of the survival space, having so much to offer in a single package that it sometimes feels like you are playing a completely different game in each session. Now with Entropic Break on the way, that breadth is only getting wider, with a sunny, aquatic location that houses countless new anomalies for you to uncover.

I Hate Modern FPS Games, But I Still Love These Games
As a casual FPS enjoyer, there are still several FPS titles that feel fun and exciting enough to jump back into.
Not only are there sandy islands and stunning beaches to explore, but beneath the surface, there are plenty of additional areas to find that will no doubt bring with them more questions than answers. If you loved the base game, then this first story DLC should quench your thirst for more quirky survival action in ways that you never knew you needed.
The Outer Worlds 2/MOUSE: P.I.
More Still To Come
Details:
Several story DLCs for both games
Specifics still unknown
Both The Outer Worlds 2 and MOUSE: P.I. For Hire have confirmed plans for post-launch support in the form of DLC story packs. In the case of The Outer Worlds 2, we will be getting two separate expansions at a later date, and if they follow the blueprint of the first game’s DLC content, then we should be in for some pretty fun additional questlines.
For MOUSE, we have even less to go on, with the only details being a new adventure for Jack Pepper and the fact that the content is labeled “Story DLC #1”, which could mean there is more to come down the line. My expectations are an update for the base game with some arcade-style content, and potentially a prequel story that goes into Pepper’s past, but we will have to see where the trail of cheese leads us next.
