There are a lot of dangerous enemies in Blades of Fire. Even the Queen’s Hounds, which may look like cannon fodder, are powerful enough to land two good shots on Aran to deplete his health and send him back to the last Anvil. One of the most formidable foes you’ll face early is wandering around in the Besacarr Hamlet area is a massive Troll.
If you try and attack it with your sword or polearm, you’ll notice that they do little to no damage to their health bar at all. Moreover, their health bar needs to be depleted twice before it regenerates. This guide will show you how and when you should attempt to slay the Troll in Blades of Fire.

Where To Find The Troll In Blades Of Fire
The Troll is trapped in a cart by the Queen’s Hounds near the gate in western Besacarr Hamlet. It will break free and attack Aran on sight. When you escape, the Troll will roam the area sniffing for potential victims and will attack as soon as it gets wind of Aran’s scent. He’s surprisingly fast and will give chase as soon as he spots, hears, or smells you. If you try and attack him early, your weapons won’t do any damage to the Warhammer will bounce off his thick skin, and the sword obtained in the opening isn’t strong enough to hurt it make any significant slashing damage. Aran will need to forge a Longspear to defeat the Troll in Blades of Fire.
If you’re underequipped to deal with Troll, keep your distance and follow it around; it will kill other enemies in the area and destroy items so you can loot wood and iron.
How To Forge A Longspear In Blades Of Fire
To craft a spear in Blades of Fire must defeat five spearmen first and ensure that Asdo with you to record the kills in his chronicles. If he’s not with you, the kills won’t be recorded.
Where To Find The Speamen
Thankfully, you won’t have to go far to locate the spearmen in Besacarr Hamlet. They are in the westside area of Besacarr, near the gate and the lever. Spearmen are fast, have a long reach, and can kill Aran with two hits. So, practice your dodges and work on timing when it comes to heavy attacks. However, if you’re surrounded, only use quick attacks after blocking, pairing, and dodging to wear down their health bars. Heavy attacks take longer to perform and leave Aran vulnerable.
It’s a good idea to explore and kill as many guards as possible, and break all the barrels and pots to farm as many materials like iron and wood as possible to create a good spear.
Forge Your Spear
After defeating the spearmen, you’ll have the Longspear Forge Scroll. So rest at an Anvil and return to the Forge to craft the spear with the new blueprints. Craft the longest possible spear with the highest damage output possible. Don’t worry about weight and its effects on stamina because you want the highest one-shot damage you can get. With your new spear, it’s time to fight the Troll.
How To Beat The Troll In Blades Of Fire
Armed with your spear, it’s time to find the Troll. It’s wandering around the same area where it broke free, you’ll hear its sniffs and feel the footsteps if you’re using a controller with vibration feedback switched on. Use the following tips to defeat the Troll:
The Troll has two health bars.
Fight the Troll in an open area, don’t get caught in small spaces.
Spear swings appear to hurt the Troll more than stabs, so make sure Aran is in the right stance.
Dodge the Troll’s attacks instead of blocking and parrying.
Heavy attacks, performed by holding the attack button down, will do significant damage. Some light attacks may not hurt it at all. After most attacks, the Troll will pause in between attacks, giving you time to hit it with an attack of your own.
The Troll with throw projectiles in the form of excrement and vomit. Use the side dodges to avoid them.
When you deplete the yellow health bar, the Troll will be stunned and will try to cast Petrify on itself. If it does this, it’ll fully replenish the yellow health bar.
As soon as the Troll is stunned, hit it with a heavy attack to the head chop it off. Even though the head is chopped off, it won’t die and will continue to blindly attack while it looks for its head.
Hits to the arms will cut off the Troll’s arms, but it’s just as dangerous with one arm and will regenerate faster.
Now, it’s time to hit it with everything you’ve got before it finds its head and regenerates.
Unlike other enemies in the area, the Troll is a miniboss and won’t respawn. So you’ll be safer exploring the area. However, there are more Trolls to encounter, and defeating five of them will reward Aran with a new Greatsword Forge Scroll. Unfortunately, the loot it drops can be random, and sometimes you’ll get some quality iron or a high number of petrified tips.
