Coal is one of the items needed to craft Refined Ingots in Palworld 1.0, a mid-game material players will need to craft most of the weapons and Pal Spheres from level 30 to 50. Finding Coal in the early game can be tricky, so that’s why we’ve created a guide with indications on where to get Coal close to the Hill of Beginnings, the starting zone of Palworld.
With the full release, many nodes have switched places, and the resource rebalance introduced in Palworld 1.0 has somewhat changed the order at which resources appear. So, if you are a bit lost and need to find Coal real fast, read this guide.

Where to Find Coal in Palworld 1.0
Finding Coal in Palworld is critical to craft Refined Ingots, which are needed for tier 3 to 5 Pal Spheres. The closest Coal node to the starting zone (Hill of the Beginnings) is located north of the Azurobe Boss spawn, going further north from the Rayne Syndicate Tower.
This area has Pals around level 30 to 35, which are easy to dodge to reach the sand patch with lots of Coal nodes to farm. A bit south of that position, there are two hills with a few nodes and dungeons that have Coal nodes inside, if you are willing to delve into one of those.
Dungeons disappear after a few in-game hours, but they respawn after 3 to 6 in-game days. The resources inside might change, so be careful about that.

If you are in need of even more Coal, you can go to Twilight Dunes, just above Anubis Boss Spawn, to find a formation filled with Coal. You can also find lots of coal in Twilight Dunes, though it’s recommended to bring a Pal of at least level 40 before exploring the zone.
Lastly, you can create your own coal farming operation inside your own base by unlocking the Coal Mine technology. It requires 5 Ancient Technology Points to be unlocked and 70 Stone, 100 Coal, 30 Paldium Fragments, and 10 Ancient Civilization Parts to build one.
Building one or two inside the base, then assigning a decent mining Pal like Anubis (more so if Sekhmet is present in the base) will yield an average of 200 to 300 Coal every 10 in-game minutes (Calculated with 3 Anubis with maximum Mining Suitability, and a Sekhmet with its passive activated).
