A civil court judge ordered Sean “Diddy” Combs to reimburse NBCUniversal for nearly $500,000 in legal fees after he tried to sideline the Peacock network’s “Diddy: The Making of a Bad Boy” streaming documentary.
The imprisoned music mogul sued NBCUniversal for $100 million in February alleging the production defamed him with negative claims about the deaths of people in his orbit and speculation about illegal conduct in his sex life.
After a court promptly tossed Combs’ suit in April, NBCUniversal moved to recover its legal costs. The broadcasting giant asked for nearly $1 million from Combs, but was granted $477,700.50, according to TMZ.
The judge in the case reportedly deemed some of the plaintiff’s legal team’s billing to be excessive.
ABC News reported on Monday that Combs’ lawyer Michael Tremonte claims the “Mo Money Mo Problems” rapper hasn’t been paying his own legal fees and is asking to drop him as a client. The rapper said he’s changing representation and dismissed Tremonte’s claim as part of a business dispute.
Combs has been incarcerated in New Jersey’s FCI Fort Dix since October 2026. The Harlem native, 56, was sentenced to more than four years in prison after being convicted of transporting escorts across the U.S. to engage in debauched sexual performances he called “freak-offs.”
NBC News reported last week that Combs was spending thousands of dollars a month to illegally enjoy massages, contraband booze and specially cooked meals while serving his sentence. Combs was reportedly moved to solitary confinement after news of his alleged VIP lifestyle behind bars was made public.
The Bureau of Prisons’ inmate locater shows he’s due to be released from FCI Fort Dix on Jan. 21, 2028.
