By the time Episode 30 of Dr. Stone’s anime season rolled around, Senku Ishigami the genius knew he was within a stone’s throw of his final objective. He’s come a long way since the days of inventing ropes and pulleys near Ishigami Village, and more importantly, Senku’s circle of friends has come even further. Past a certain point, Senku’s projects must be a group effort, and if the destination is the moon, then the entire planet must come together to make it happen.
The last few episodes of Dr. Stone knew this, with Senku touring the world aboard the New Perseus to recruit the best talent from faraway lands and collect resources from here, there, and everywhere. As of Episode 30, it all seriously started coming together, with Japan and Treasure Island serving as the building site and launch site for the moon mission, respectively. That means Episode 31 is where the Kingdom of Science will finish prepping and start doing, and the results promise to be stellar as the Spring 2026 anime season continues.
The Kingdom Starts Building as Chrome and Suika Race the Clock
This Final Project Might Takes Years to Complete
Most of the planning, recruitment, and resource collecting is now complete, and Senku couldn’t have chosen a more practical and sentimental place to bring it all together. Episode 30 saw the New Perseus crew and the people of Ishigami Villager reunite, sometimes with tears involved, and everyone celebrated this reunion with the return of authentic Japanese food thanks to the reinvention of rice harvesting methods. Once the delicious fun and games were over, Episode 30 started handing the reins to Episode 31’s future content, with Senku organizing all the steps to building his rocket.
All of Senku’s best friends know the mission, and they know the stakes. Best of all, they also know the blueprints, and best of all, Chrome and Suika are learning math from Sai Nanami to make sure they can surprise Senku with their own contribution. The promised result is a work day of an episode in Episode 31, with the rocket’s hull in particular taking shape thanks to the revival of hydroelectric dams. Computers, craftsmen, and much more are rounding out this project, all while Senku thinks he has to make compromises by sending his team on a one-way mission to the lunar surface to face Why-Man.

However, the power of friendship goes beyond task delegation in Senku’s kingdom, and Episode 31 promises to prove it. Chrome and Suika have their work cut out for them as math and science rookies who have never seen a rocket or landing module before, but they refuse to let Senku petrify the moon mission crew with a Medusa. Whether or not Chrome and Suika succeed in constructing a return vehicle is up in the air, but the mere fact they’re attempting this is so touching. The two of them want a total victory over Why-Man and over nature itself, and as two of Senku’s earliest allies in the Kingdom of Science, they can do no less.
All this also suggests Episode 31 will be a heavy edutainment episode, with the power of educational content and science lessons taking the lead as the space program assembles. There’s no a lot of room left for any serious character drama or major detours or comedy skits, so it’s all STEM from here. Even with Chrome’s and Suika’s thoughtful plan in mind, Dr. Stone is about to double down on the hard sciences as rocket science becomes a reality, not just a figure of speech.

New Dr. Stone episodes have been regularly airing in the Spring anime season, and the next episode is on schedule to air later this week. Episode 31 of Dr. Stone’s fourth season, titled “Unknown Known,” is set to air on Thursday, May 14th, as the simulcast release in the West. The exact timing makes Dr. Stone a morning anime, with simulcast viewers in PST able to watch “Unknown Known” at 7:00 AM, just in time for a sunny breakfast. In MT, Dr. Stone’s upcoming episode arrives at 8:00 AM, and CST fans cans catch the new episode at 9:00 AM. That leaves a 10:00 AM arrival time for EST simulcast viewers.
