Dragon Ball Super is Finally Setting Up Goku & Vegeta’s Final Battle VS The Most Powerful God

Dragon Ball Super began with Goku and Vegeta battling Beerus, so it’s only fitting the series ends with the Saiyans getting one more chance at fighting the multiverse’s strongest God of Destruction. At the start of Dragon Ball Super, there was no chance in HFIL Goku and Vegeta would have been able to beat Beerus. Beerus’ Power Level has even been retconned from needing 70% of his full power to fight Super Saiyan God Goku in Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods, to barely trying in the Dragon Ball Super anime and manga.

Goku and Vegeta have only grown stronger since the start of Dragon Ball Super, however. Now that they have access to Perfected Ultra Instinct and Ultra Ego respectively, Goku and Vegeta have become Gods on par with the most powerful beings in the Dragon Ball multiverse. With Dragon Ball Super: Beerus set to air later this year and the Dragon Ball Super manga setting up the Black Frieza Saga, the franchise is getting fans ready for Ultra Instinct Goku and Ultra Ego Vegeta’s final showdown with the ultimate warrior: Beerus.

Dragon Ball Super Can’t End Without Goku & Vegeta’s Rematch With Beerus

Goku and Vegeta have spent all of Dragon Ball Super training and growing stronger specifically so they can one day surpass Beerus. Beerus has been their biggest motivator since the very start of the series, and each arc makes a point to highlight how much more powerful Beerus still is compared to the Saiyans. That said, the gap between them and Beerus has been narrowing. As of Dragon Ball Super: Broly, both Broly and Gogeta were implied to be strong enough to rival Beerus.

Now that Goku has mastered Perfected Ultra Instinct and Vegeta has unlocked Ultra Ego, they’re the closest they’ve ever been to matching Beerus power-wise. Whis has believed for a long time that Goku and Vegeta could easily fight Beerus on par so long as they work together. At this point, they have a real shot of actually overwhelming Beerus in a joint effort. Beerus is also a master of both Ultra Instinct and Hakai, making him the perfect final challenge to gauage how much Goku and Vegeta have grown since Battle of Gods.

Dragon Ball Super: Beerus Will Remind Everyone How Powerful The God of Destruction Really Is

Dragon Ball Super: Beerus’ Fall 2026 release is going to be a big deal. Not only is Dragon Ball Super finally getting a long-awaited remake that’ll fix the series’ animation, tighten the pacing, and add in exclusive scenes from the manga, Dragon Ball Super: Beerus feels like the franchise’s way of reminding fans of just how strong Beerus truly is. It’s easy to forget, but Beerus hasn’t been in a serious fight since the start of Dragon Ball Super.

Watching Beerus completely overwhelm both Vegeta and Goku is going to put into perspective how far ahead he is from both Saiyans. It’s rumored that the remake will keep its Dragon Ball Super: Beerus title for every story arc, rather than rebranding. This suggests that Beerus will remain a major figure throughout the story, slowly building up to his final rematches with Goku and Vegeta once the Dragon Ball Super manga returns.

The Black Frieza Saga Will Be the Turning Point For Beerus’ Endgame

The Dragon Ball Super manga went on hiatus with the release of Chapter 104, but all signs point to Toyotarou reviving the Dragon Ball Super manga sooner rather than later. Once the Dragon Ball Super manga returns, the Z-Fighters will be facing their greatest challenge yet: Black Frieza. Black Frieza is the strongest mortal in the multiverse, and a legitimate threat to both Beerus and the rest of the Gods. Worst case scenario, Black Frieza asserts his power by killing Beerus at the start of the story arc.

Alternatively, Black Frieza may have gotten so powerful that the only way of stopping him is by making him Universe 7’s God of Destruction in order to reign in his fierce, destructive power. Both scenarios set the stage for Goku and Vegeta’s rematch with Beerus. If Black Frieza does indeed kill Beerus, he’ll need to be revived and – when he is – he’ll want to prove to Goku and Vegeta he’s still on top. If he gives up his position to Frieza, Beerus is now a free man ready to settle the score with Goku and Vegeta once and for all. One way or another, all roads lead to Goku and Vegeta battling Beerus one last time at the end of Dragon Ball Super.
