As the Stop Killing Games movement shows, nothing is guaranteed to last forever. Each month, a couple of games shut down completely, bringing an end to their runs as they become unplayable. In July 2026, quite a few online titles will sunset their servers, leaving behind only echoes that will gradually fade as their communities move on.

At this point, the final chapter of these games has already been written, and we cannot really change that. However, if you have fond memories of these titles, you still have time to add one more and potentially end things on a positive note. Don’t postpone any further, as tomorrow will never come.

League of Angels – Heaven’s Fury Shuts Down For Good On July 7, 2026

An Action RPG Available On PC & Steam

Lasting for roughly half a decade, League of Angels – Heaven’s Fury announced its closure in April 2026, giving players an opportunity to properly say goodbye. Until July 7, the servers will be completely shut down, bringing the Chinese RPG to an end. While not extremely well-known globally, League of Angels still averaged a few dozen players on Steam until a few months ago, although it last cracked 100 concurrent users in April 2024.

All adventures must eventually come to an end, and the gates to the divine realm will soon close slowly.

Skyworld: Kingdom Brawl Ends The Battle On July 11, 2026

A VR Battle Arena Card Game Available On PC (Oculus Quest, Meta Quest, Steam VR)

Following in the footsteps of Rec Room, several games shutting down in July 2026 utilize virtual reality. Skyworld: Kingdom Brawl is a VR battle arena game that casts players as deck-builders who employ cards as their army. Despite lasting a very long time, the game never truly found an audience on Steam, the platform that provides this data. It might have been more successful in Meta’s ecosystem, though. Kingdom Brawl shut down its co-op and multiplayer modes in 2025, but the servers lasted another year. While supporting single-player, this is an always-online game, so it will no longer be playable.

We understand this is disappointing news, but we are incredibly grateful to all of you who battled, built, and played alongside us over the years in Skyworld: Kingdom Brawl.

Legend of Heaven’s Destiny Accepts Its Fate On July 12, 2026

A Chinese RPG Available On Steam & Mobile

Also known as Legend of Destiny or Legend of Tianyuan, another Chinese RPG is shutting down in July, with the notice also coming around the same time as League of Angels. An isometric hack and slash akin to something like Diablo, Legend of Heaven’s Destiny is a traditional MMO that blends PvE and PvP. As far as I can tell, the game was never released in English, with its Steam profile being only available in Chinese. While it never made its international debut, Legend of Heaven’s Destiny still deserves to be spotlighted before it ends.

At this difficult time, we would like to once again extend our deepest apologies and gratitude to all the players who have accompanied “Legend of Destiny” to this day. Thank you for having stood in this world. (Google translated message)

A Township Tale Ends Its Story on July 20, 2026

A VR Sandbox RPG Available On PC

Announced on its Discord, A Township Tale sunsets after roughly a 5-year span. Atla’s co-founder, Joel van de Vorstenbosch, spoke about the VR industry’s current state, saying it has developed in ways they couldn’t predict. From all the games shutting down this month, A Township Tale has probably the biggest presence, at least in Western nations. Alongside other players, you work to survive, build, craft, and explore, and you can play different roles, like blacksmith, warrior, or woodcutter. VR survival open-world games aren’t extremely plentiful by any stretch of the imagination, and A Township Tale seems to have built a dedicated community (and Atla plans to keep the community platforms open).

Our hope is to preserve some of the history around A Township Tale, and to ensure the community can maintain contact with each other.

Ancible Online Leaves The MMORPG World On July 26, 2026

A Free MMORPG Available On PC

After a few months in early access, Ancible Online has unfortunately reached the end of its development cycle, and the 2D MMORPG will shut down before reaching its completion. Going by the developer’s closure notice, the project’s scope might have been too vast for the resources at their disposal. The game seemed to have potential, but it only received a few months of updates before the plug was pulled.

Eonica Chess Battle Makes Its Last Move In July 2026

Auto-Battle Chess Game Available On PC

Notice of Service Ending

Official Website

Developer: StandArts

Launch Date: October 31, 2020

An exact date has not been stated; however, the announcement was made on April 24, so 90 days must pass to comply with Steam’s minimum notice policy.

Another Steam Early Access game that closed down before reaching its endpoint, Eonica Chess Battle has been in limbo since October 2020, with updates seemingly stopping a few years ago. Although unpolished, the auto-chess game blended traditional mechanics with a fantasy world twist, making for an interesting combination. However, Eonica Chess Battle needed to develop a consistent community to be viable as an online PvP game, and that didn’t seem to materialize.

We are incredibly proud of the battles fought on these boards, and we thank you for being a part of our story.
