There are a total of 14 Lives in Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time, and each one belongs to one of the three categories: combat, gathering, and crafting. Each category plays an important role in the world, as gatherers are needed to craft, artisans can assist in making equipment for combat, and fighters can make gathering safer.
While taking the shoes of a craftsperson, players will find that the equipment they make can come with special abilities. To help players obtain specific skills on an item, they can use Extra Materials in Fantasy Life i. Extra Mats include both Appliques and Stickers.

Strangelings are living objects that can be turned into buddies in Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time, but they’re quite hard to find.
To craft an item using extra materials in Fantasy Life i, players must first unlock the skill node in the Skill Board. Head up the tree and find the “Extra Materials” ability, then spend 10 skill points to unlock it. Note that players must first unlock the node that requires an Adept rank, meaning the Extra Materials ability can only be unlocked after becoming an Adept at the corresponding Life in Fantasy Life i.
To rank up in a Life, players need to complete the Life’s quest. For crafting life, they can go to the crafting bench, then check the first tab for all the items required to be crafted for a quest. The items related to a Life’s quest will have the Life’s logo on top of them.
How To Use Appliques and Stickers In Fantasy Life i
After unlocking the ability, approach a crafting bench and begin crafting. Now, on top of choosing which Buddy to assist with the creation, players can also use Extra Materials in the Extra Mats box. Pressing on the box will open a window that shows all the available Stickers and Appliques that can be used. Note that for tools, only the Golem Sticker can be added as Extra Mats since tools don’t need fighting skills on them.
Extra Mats are not required to create skills on equipment, but as skills are added randomly, using Extra Mats allows players to get the skill they want more easily.
