Fortnite Players Call Galactic Battle Umbrella a ‘Wasted Opportunity’

Fortnite players have come together to express their disappointment with the Death Star ‘Brella, which is a glider awarded to players who claim a Victory Royale during the Galactic Battle mini-season. Epic Games recently launched Galactic Battle, which is a fully Star Wars-themed mini-season of Fortnite. So far, it has introduced characters like Captain Phasma, General Grievous, and Emperor Palpatine to the game.

In addition to adding many of the franchise’s iconic characters, Epic Games introduced a skin of Darth Jar Jar in Fortnite, which is a popular fan theory that paints Jar Jar Binks as a secret Sith Lord. While many fans were initially excited to see Darth Jar Jar make his way to the island, some people were disappointed with the way Epic Games executed his release. Instead of being included in the battle pass, Darth Jar Jar went to the Item Shop. As of writing, he costs 1,500 V-Bucks and doesn’t come with a back bling or any other accessories. In fact, there isn’t even a bundle that would allow fans to acquire everything at a slight discount. Epic Games also decided to lock the items behind XP, which means that anyone who wants to buy Darth Jar Jar will need to earn over one million XP. The unexpected restriction has surprised and disappointed many fans who wanted to purchase the character right away.

In a recent post on Reddit, Rude-Cucumber-7191 called Fortnite’s victory umbrella for the Galatic Battle mini-season a “wasted opportunity.” They also shared an image of the Death Star ‘Brella next to an image of Cloud City, which is shaped almost exactly like one of Fortnite’s classic umbrellas. Many fans agreed, with some stating that they’d never noticed that Cloud City would be the perfect inspiration for such a glider. However, one person pointed out that the location is already in the game as a back bling, which may prevent Epic Games from using it again for another cosmetic.

A large portion of the community has also expressed disappointment over the lack of lightsaber pickaxes in Fortnite, as many people have been asking Epic Games to make the iconic weapon into a cosmetic for quite some time. While the developers have included lightsabers in the loot pool for the mini-season, a large portion of gamers would like to use them outside special events.

While many fans have been enjoying the Star Wars season, some people have criticized its use of AI, as the developers recently added a fully-voiced AI version of Darth Vader to Fortnite. Epic Games is currently being sued by SAG-AFTRA for its use of AI, as there was an agreement in place between the two organizations. Despite a few hiccups and complaints, many fans are feeling optimistic about the future of Fortnite.
