Over the last few years, the Isekai genre has gained incredible popularity in Japan as well as overseas. While known to delve excessively into the lighthearted adventure elements, the isekai genre has evolved significantly over the years and now boasts incredible storytelling with complex themes and gripping plot points. That is precisely what has made one of the newest Isekai releases of 2026 the best anime of all time for a multitude of fans all over the world.
This new anime series that has claimed the throne as the best anime is none other than Re:Zero Season 4, which began its run earlier this year on April 8, 2026. This new season finished airing its first part on June 17, 2026, and in its run of 11 episodes, it has certainly set the bar incredibly high, scoring 10/10 by thousands of fans all over the world and claiming the top spot on IMDb in the process.
Re:Zero Season 4 Is Officially The Best Rated Anime Of All Time By Fans on IMDb
IMDb is an incredibly popular database that reliably tells users how well an anime or a TV series is received by fans all over the world. While the influence of anime on this platform wasn’t as high in the past, now it has been used increasingly by fans all over the world to rate their favorite series and review each episode as well as the season properly. Re:Zero Season 4 has done incredibly well in that regard, as it has become the highest-rated anime of all time on IMDb, voted by thousands of fans. Right now, Re:Zero has a rating of 9.4/10, which is incredibly strong and very difficult to top for any other anime series. It even has some of the highest-rated episodes of all time, making its performance even stronger.
For Re:Zero to climb to this position, it had to beat other anime giants such as Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End, and even the likes of One Piece, Naruto, Dragon Ball, and many other hits that fans all over the world are enamored by. Re:Zero Season 4 accomplished this with incredible storytelling, brilliant character writing, and gripping plot points, as well as a keen attention to detail by Tappei Nagatsuki, the incredible author of the series. The anime studio, while not known to be the best, still delivered above-average production quality and let the story shine where it needed to. Undoubtedly, Re:Zero Season 4 has had an incredibly strong start. What’s even more exciting is that the second part is officially coming later this year with arguably even better content that could skyrocket the score even further and further consolidate its position as one of the best anime of all time.
Re:Zero Season 4 Has A Sensational Episode Score To Reflect Top Anime Status
Re:Zero season 4 has a sensational overall score on IMDb, but what’s even more impressive is the individual episode score that it has received from fans all over the world. While the beginning of the anime series was slow, with a rating of 8.7 out of 10 by the vast majority of the fans, it slowly started getting better. It secured a 9.5 in the second episode and a 9.8 in the third episode. With a change of pace starting from the fourth episode, Re:Zero secured an 8.8 out of 10, followed up by an 8.7 in the next one. In the second half of the first part of Season 4, the intensity officially picked up, and fans were treated to some of the best episodes on a stretch.

Re:Zero Season 4 Part 2 Returns on August 12, 2026
As mentioned previously, Re:Zero Season 4 is far from done and still has quite a lot of episodes to give to the fans. Re:Zero Season 4 is set to resume on August 12, 2026, on Crunchyroll, where fans can stream it with English subtitles. Given that the first part of Season 4 featured 11 episodes, we still have a good amount of content to look forward to in total. Season 4 is set to have 19 episodes, which means eight episodes are still left for us to enjoy. These eight episodes are all going to be incredibly packed with some of the best storytelling and character writing moments, as the story officially begins the Recapture Arc.
Re:Zero Season 4 isn’t just performing incredibly well on IMDb but also on other anime platforms such as MyAnimeList. There, the series is actually the second-best-rated anime series of all time, but the difference between it and Frieren, which claims the top spot, isn’t big and is shrinking by the day. At the moment, Frieren sits on an overall score of 9.25, while Re:Zero Season 4 is currently on 9.16. With such a small gap between the two, it is highly likely that the stellar performance of Re:Zero Season 4 Part 2 is going to bridge it and officially crown it as the best anime of all time there as well, solidifying its presence at the top even further. We cannot wait to see what Re:Zero delivers once it returns later this year, but for now, we are more than content with what it has achieved with its fourth season release this year. Hopefully, the Recapture Arc will deliver even better content and Studio White Fox brings the series to life in the best way possible, as it has done over the course of the last few years consistently.
Re:Zero Season 4 continues its Part 2 starting August 12, 2026, on Crunchyroll.
