Kowakujo Scrolls Puzzle & Pufferfish Guide (Black Ops 7 Zombies)

Part of the Kowakujo main easter egg quest involves punching/shooting a 3×3 grid of scrolls until they’re all in the same inward position. However, every scroll you hit, three more will pop out, making it feel impossible to get it right without just spamming it! We’ve got the solution you need to follow, and the steps that come after to make this work like a charm.

Head to the Storage Rooms, where, when facing the south wall, you will see a 3×3 grid of scrolls. The objective here is to melee or shoot the scrolls (either is fine), but every time you hit the scroll, another will pop out. The goal is to push all the scrolls into their slots without any of them coming out, and you can hit them in the sequence below to complete it quickly:

Hit the top left scroll (1,1)

Hit the top middle scroll (1,2)

Hit the middle, middle scroll (2,2)

Hit the middle right scroll (2,3)

Hit the bottom middle scroll (3,2)

Hit the bottom right scroll (3,3)

This step (like all of them) will be easier to do if you have a friend to distract the last zombie. But if you’re solo, you can hit the scrolls to spawn a cat statue that gives you a minute of immunity, or, if it runs out, just rely on Decoys and keep a single zombie alive.

You’ll know you’ve done this step correctly when all the scrolls go in and they start to dance, and then they will spit out the Death Records and the Pestle. The Death Records are vital for the final step of the murder mystery, and the Pestle is what you’ll need for the next step!

How to Use the Pestle to Get the Pufferfish in Kowakujo

Now that you have the Pestle, you need to head to the Kitchens. Behind the Mystery Box spawn, there’s a stone tabletop covered in ash, and a bowl on top. Interact with the bowl to place the Pestle, which will cause the bowl to turn green.

You now need to get Brain Rot kills at the bowl, and by that, we mean kills with a gun that has Brain Rot as the ammo mod, not as in “let Charmed zombies kill other zombies”. After enough kills, which is around 30+, the Pestle will turn blue, and you can interact with it to start a cutscene.

Once the cutscene ends, look at the north wall in the Kitchen. One of the drawers has now opened, and inside, you can find the Pufferfish. With this item acquired, you can return to the Meditation Room to place your evidence, and by following the easter egg walkthrough above, you just have 5 steps to go!
