A LEGO fan has shared a sad message they received from the company, informing them that this would be their daughter’s last LEGO Magazine. While LEGO provides tons of fun for many kids, this notice from the company left one fan’s daughter upset.

Over the years, the LEGO company has released a plethora of products that appeal to a wide range of demographics. Some sets are geared toward adults, with pieces numbering in the thousands. However, the company also sells many kits for younger children. Along with these products, parents can sign their kids up for the official LEGO Magazine. This free physical publication comes five times a year and includes activities, comics, fan-made builds, and more to check out. While many kids look forward to getting the magazine, one LEGO fan’s daughter recently received a sad message.

LEGO Fan’s Daughter Gets “Final” Magazine Notice From Company

Posting on Reddit, a user known as TheOtherOctopus shared a picture of their daughter’s latest LEGO Magazine. Sadly, a message on the cover made this appear to be her final issue of the publication. “This is your final LEGO Magazine,” the message said. Underneath this text, the company explained that the reason was that TheOtherOctopus’ daughter was now 10 years old. Instead of receiving new editions of the physical magazine, they were encouraged to get the LEGO Play app. Understandably, this news was heartbreaking to the Reddit user’s daughter. In fact, TheOtherOctopus revealed that “both of us may have cried.”

Lego Batman rumors

While this message on the cover of LEGO Magazine was devastating for TheOtherOctopus’ daughter, this might not be the end of her subscription. As the LEGO fan and other Reddit users pointed out, the first page of the issue notes that kids over 10 can continue to receive the publication. However, they have to notify the company to keep receiving new issues.

This LEGO Magazine post has caught the attention of the community on Reddit, gaining over 14K upvotes. In the comments, some users explained the rationale behind the company automatically discontinuing the magazine for kids 10 years of age and older. They argued that this helps reduce paper waste and cuts costs since some families would likely not cancel the free subscription even if their children never read the magazine. Nevertheless, some thought the message came across as callous and needed to be refined. While it is meant to move LEGO fans onto other content, the text informing them that this would be their last issue could be heartbreaking for kids like TheOtherOctopus’ daughter when receiving the issue in the mail. Some suggested the official message should start with “congratulations” to help signify that this is not necessarily a bad thing. Fortunately, Reddit users pointed out that fans can continue to receive the magazine even after turning 10, despite the depressing messaging.

LEGO Has Big Things Planned for 2026, Including New Pokemon Sets

Besides the LEGO Magazine, the company has lots more in store for fans of all ages in the coming months. For example, LEGO revealed its first Pokemon sets coming in 2026. So far, the company has confirmed sets featuring Eevee and Pikachu, along with a massive 6,838-piece one that includes Venusaur, Charizard, and Blastoise.

It will be interesting to see what other products could be coming from LEGO in the months ahead. In addition to officially announced sets, leaks have teased details about LEGO collabs with The Lord of the Rings and more. In the case of Middle-earth, a Minas Tirith set will reportedly contain 8,278 pieces, making it one of the biggest ever. Hopefully, these upcoming products will keep builders satisfied, no matter their age.
