Fans trying out experimental preview versions of Minecraft’s Bedrock Edition have discovered that the upcoming Vibrant Visuals graphical update brings a curious environmental change to the End dimension. This has sparked some Minecraft enthusiasts to further speculate about the possibility of a fully-fledged End update sometime in the future, although the likelihood of the game getting such a content drop remains a topic of much debate.

As fans have learned since its reveal at Minecraft LIVE earlier this year, Minecraft’s Vibrant Visuals pack plans to bring more to the game than just fancier lighting. One Minecraft fan known online as Impulv recently shared a clip that demonstrates these events in action, with the game footage representing one of Minecraft: Bedrock Edition’s latest preview versions. These fantastic supernovae completely light up the sky of the End before gradually dimming with time, and are accompanied by ominous sound effects.

Subtle environmental details scattered throughout Minecraft are often intentionally placed by the developers to raise questions in players’ minds with regard to the lore and world of Minecraft itself, and a touch like this makes for a pretty good example. Very little is known about the End itself, though the eerily fragmented, distorted realm has captured players’ imaginations for years. It will likely never be known what this odd cosmic phenomenon really is, and while it may be quite a reach to assume that it has anything to do with a potential End update for Minecraft, it certainly stokes the curiosity of the fanbase further.
